Improper Priors via Expectation Measures

open access: yesStats
In Bayesian statistics, the prior distributions play a key role in the inference, and there are procedures for finding prior distributions. An important problem is that these procedures often lead to improper prior distributions that cannot be normalized

Precipitation Simulations of the O‐Phase in Ti2AlNb Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Simulated and experimental evolution of the O‐phase volume fraction during postprocessing of a Ti‐21Al‐25Nb (at.%) alloy processed by laser powder bed fusion. With results of sensitivity to input parameters from a thorough and quantified analysis, the interfacial energy matrix/precipitate is the most relevant input parameter for the simulation of the O‐

Asymptotic Inference for a Change-Point Poisson Process

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1986
Easily implemented asymptotic off-line procedures for the change-point Poisson process with \(\lambda\) (t), the intensity at time t, equal to \(\lambda_ 1\) if \(t\leq \tau\) and to \(\lambda_ 2\) if \(t>\tau\), are developed. They may also be applied to a problem of estimation of the location of a discontinuity in density discussed by \textit{H ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Directional Handover Analysis with Stochastic Petri Net and Poisson Point Process in Heterogeneous Networks

open access: yesMathematics
Handover is crucial for ensuring seamless connectivity in heterogeneous networks (HetNet) by enabling user equipment (UE) to switch its connection link between cells based on signal conditions.

Uplink Interference Management for Hetnets Stressed by Clustered Wide-Band Jammers

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In heterogeneous cellular networks (HetNets), small base stations (SBSs) are overlaid in the coverage region of a macro base station (MBS) to improve coverage and spectral efficiency. However, the performance of HetNets is significantly degraded by inter-

A new digital method of data collection for spatial point pattern analysis in grassland communities

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2020
A major objective of plant ecology research is to determine the underlying processes responsible for the observed spatial distribution patterns of plant species.

Compatibility of Methacrylate Based Resins Controls Interfacial Failure and Toughness in 3D‐Printed Multimaterial Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...
