Asymptotic Tail of the Product of Independent Poisson Random Variables

open access: yes
This paper studies the asymptotic tail behaviour of products of independent Poisson random variables. Let \[ Z_m=\prod_{j=1}^m X_j, \] where $X_1,\dots,X_m$ are independent Poisson random variables. We derive a Laplace-type asymptotic approximation for \[ P(Z_m \ge n), \qquad n\to\infty, \] whose relative error tends to zero.

The extension of the taxon cycle model to island plants: insights from the Canarian vascular flora

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Taxon cycle models describe eco‐evolutionary patterns of lineage colonization, diversification, and decline across archipelagos, inferring an important role for competition amongst ecologically similar taxa in driving concurrent niche changes.

Orchard netting impacts on biodiversity leading to cascading effects at the ecosystem level

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Agriculture must ensure food production without further compromising the ecosystem functions upon which it depends. Agricultural practices should therefore avoid harming farmland biodiversity, especially of taxa that supply the key ecosystem services (e.g.

Free Trade Zones and Corporate ESG: Evidence From a Quasi‐Natural Experiment in China

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines how China's Pilot Free Trade Zones (FTZs) influence corporate ESG performance. Using a staggered difference‐in‐differences model on Chinese listed firms from 2009 to 2024, we combine coarsened exact matching (CEM) and geography‐based instrumental variables to ensure robust identification.
