Elastic buckling of polar-orthotropic annular plates in shear

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1982
Abstract An exact solution is presented for the elastic buckling of a polar-orthotropic annular plate subjected to uniform shearing stresses along the boundaries. Detailed results for the critical load are given for a wide range of material parameters, plate geometry and various boundary conditions.

Axisymmetric buckling of moderately thick polar orthotropic annular plates

Composites Science and Technology, 1994
Abstract The problems of axisymmetric elastic buckling of moderately thick polar orthotropic annular plates that are simply-supported or clamped at outer edges but free at inner edges and subjected to external and/or internal pressure are addressed in this work.

Fundamental frequencies of polar orthotropic annular plates with sectorial cutouts

Composite Structures, 1992
Abstract The Rayleigh method with a simple sub-sectioning technique has been used for obtaining fundamental frequencies of polar orthotropic annular plates with sectorial cutouts. Single-term deflection functions which satisfy the respective boundary conditions of an annular plate are used as admissible functions.

Free vibration of continuous polar orthotropic annular and circular plates

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1984
Abstract The free vibration of a polar orthotropic annular plate supported on concentric circles is analyzed by the Ritz method with use of Lagrange multipliers. A trial function for the deflection of the plate is expressed in terms of simple power series, and a frequency equation for the plate is derived by the condition for minimizing the total ...

Axisymmetric dynamic instability of polar orthotropic sandwich annular plate with ER damping treatment

Smart Structures and Systems, 2014
The axisymmetric dynamic instability of polar orthotropic sandwich annular plate combined with electrorheological (ER) fluid core layer and constraining layer are studied in this paper. And, the ER core layer and constraining layer are used to improve the stability of the annular plate system.

Damping and vibration analysis of polar orthotropic annular plates with ER treatment

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2009
In this study, the finite element analysis of polar orthotropic annular plate with an electrorheological (ER) fluid core and constraining layer is investigated. The equations of motion of the polar orthotropic annular sandwich plate are derived by using the discrete layer finite element method. The extensional and shear moduli of the electrorheological

Axisymmetric vibrations of polar orthotropic mindlin annular plates of variable thickness

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1985
Abstract Analysis and numerical results are presented for the axisymmetric vibrations of polar orthotropic annular plates with linear variation in thickness, according to Mindlin's shear theory of plates. A chebyshev collocation technique has been employed to obtain the frequency equations for the transverse motion of such plates, for three different

Vibration and stability of rotating polar orthotropic sandwich annular plates with a viscoelastic core layer

Composite Structures, 2007
Abstract A sandwich annular plate is built with two face layers of polar orthotropic material and a viscoelastic core layer. The non-axisymmetric vibration and stability problem of the rotating sandwich plate are analyzed by using the finite element method.

Axisymmetric dynamic instability of rotating polar orthotropic sandwich annular plates with a constrained damping layer

Composite Structures, 2006
Abstract A sandwich annular plate built with two constrained layers of polar orthotropic material and a viscoelastic core layer is subjected to a periodic uniform radial stress while rotating. The axisymmetric dynamic instability of such a rotating sandwich plate is analyzed using finite elements.

Free vibration analysis of rotating polar orthotropic annular plate with ER damping treatment

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2011
Abstract The free vibration analysis of rotating polar orthotropic sandwich annular plate with electrorheological (ER) fluid core layer is studied in this study. By using discrete layer annular finite element method, the equation of motion for the rotating polar orthotropic sandwich system is derived. The ER fluid is utilized to control the vibration
