Buckling of Polar Orthotropic Annular Plates

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1971
In this paper, elastic stability of polar orthotropic annular plates subjected to in-plane uniform radial edge pressures has been considered. The Rayleigh-Ritz method with simple polynomials as admissible functions has been employed in the analysis. It has been established that spectra of eigenvalues for axisymmetric buckling are identical for free ...

Asymmetric Vibrations of Polar Orthotropic Laminated Annular Plates

AIAA Journal, 1979
A theory of general nonsymmetric motion of heterogeneous orthotropic annular plates in terms of radial, circumferential, and transverse displacements is formulated. The eighth-order system of equations obtained generalizes earlier results on axisymmetric vibrations of laminated plates, as well as asymmetric vibrations of symmetrically laminated plates.

Axisymmetric vibrations of polar orthotropic annular plates of variable thickness

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1982
In this study of the free axisymmetric vibrations of polar orthotropic annular plates of linearly varying thickness, on the basis of the classical theory of plates, the Chebyshev collocation technique has been employed to solve the differential equation governing the transverse motion of such plates.

Buckling and vibrations of polar orthotropic annular plates of variable thickness

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1986
Abstract The effect of an hydrostatic in-plane force, together with the orthotropy, on the axisymmetric vibrations of an annular plate of linearly varying thickness in the radial direction has been analyzed on the basis of classical theory of plates. The numerical solution of the governing differential equation for two boundary conditions (inner and ...

Nonlinear deformation of axisymmetrically loaded polar orthotropic annular plates

Composites Science and Technology, 1989
Abstract The equivalent load concept is used in the analysis of large deflection (in the von Karman sense) of polar orthotropic annular plates in which the nonlinear terms of lateral displacement are considered as additional sets of loads acting on the plate. The solution of a von Karman type orthotropic plate is thus reduced to that of an equivalent

Inplane vibration analysis of polar orthotropic annular plates with linearly varying thickness

Computers & Structures, 1988
The natural frequencies of inplane vibrations of polar orthotropic annular plates with linearly varying thickness have been analysed. A semi-analytical method of analysis has been used where the radial and tangential displacements are expanded in the circumferential direction as Fourier series and the radial behaviour is solved using the finite element

Vibration of thermally stressed polar orthotropic annular plates

Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 1983
AbstractThis study sets out to analyse the effect of uniform temperature on the natural frequencies of transverse vibration of uniform polar orthotropic annular plates. The method employed is that of the annular finite element technique whereby the flexural and membrane components of the solution are separated.

On the use of a coordinate transformation for analysis of axisymmetric vibration of polar orthotropic annular plates

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1972
Estimates of natural frequencies corresponding to axisymmetric modes of flexural vibration of polar orthotropic annular plates have been obtained for various combinations of clamped, simply supported and free edge conditions. A coordinate transformation in the radial direction has been used to obtain effective solutions by the classical Rayleigh-Ritz ...
