Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Stitched Polar Codes

In this paper, we introduce stitched polar codes, a novel generalization of Arıkan's regular polar codes. Our core methodology reconfigures the fundamental polarization process by stitching additional structures to enhance the reliability of less reliable information bits in the original code.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Polar Coded OFDM Signal Transmission at the W-Band in Millimeter-Wave System

We experimentally demonstrate the transmission of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals with polar codes FEC in a W-band MMW system. The BER performances of the M-QAM OFDM signal with FEC and without FEC are investigated, respectively.
