Oceanic excitations on polar motion: a cross comparison among models [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 2005
Recent studies based on various ocean general circulation models (OGCMs) demonstrate that the oceans are a major contributor to polar motion excitations. In this paper, we analyse and compare observed non-atmospheric polar motion excitations with oceanic angular momentum (OAM) variations determined from four OGCMs, which include the parallel ocean ...

Phase transitions and spin excitations of spin-1 bosons in optical lattice

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate ground state properties of spin-1 bosonic system trapped in optical lattice with extended standard basis operator (SBO) method. For both ferromagnetic ($U_20$) systems, we analytically figure out the symmetry properties in Mott-insulator ...

Two-Dimensional Electronic Spectroscopy of Chlorophyll a: Solvent Dependent Spectral Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The interaction of the monomeric chlorophyll Q-band electronic transition with solvents of differing physical-chemical properties is investigated through two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES). Chlorophyll constitutes the key chromophore molecule

Network Localization of Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Fatigue is among the most common symptoms and one of the main factors determining the quality of life in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, the neurobiological mechanisms underlying fatigue are not fully understood. Here we studied lesion locations and their connections in individuals with MS, aiming to identify brain networks ...

Three-body correlations in direct reactions: Example of $^{6}$Be populated in $(p,n)$ reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The $^{6}$Be continuum states were populated in the charge-exchange reaction $^1$H($^{6}$Li,$^{6}$Be)$n$ collecting very high statistics data ($\sim 5 \times 10^6$ events) on the three-body $\alpha$+$p$+$p$ correlations.

Development and Preliminary In Vivo Study of 3D‐Printed Bioactive Glass Scaffolds with Trabecular Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of trabecular bioactive glass scaffolds (composition “1d”: 46.1SiO2‐28.7CaO‐8.8MgO‐6.2P2O5‐5.7CaF2‐4.5Na2O wt%) through vat photopolymerization and the relevant results from mechanical testing and in vivo implantation procedures in rabbit femora, showing great promise for bone tissue engineering applications.

Inflammatory Response‐Inspired Thermochromic Shield for Pneumatic Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A thermochromic shield for pneumatic structures is developed, using anhydrous sodium acetate powder and thermochromic pigment‐included solution. In this shield composed of three layers, the exothermic and thermochromic reactions, followed by the mixture of both components, occur promptly with an incident of penetrating damage as a sign of initial ...

ENSO modulates the oceanic excitation of polar motion

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Abstract The El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) exerts a strong control on interannual length‐of‐day variations, but its imprint on polar motion excitation remains to be identified. We explore the hypothesis that part of this imprint is embedded in oceanic angular momentum (OAM) changes, particularly that component driven by ocean ...

Magnetic antivortex-core reversal by circular-rotational spin currents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Topological singularities occur as antivortices in ferromagnetic thin-film microstructures. Antivortices behave as two-dimensional oscillators with a gyrotropic eigenmode which can be excited resonantly by spin currents and magnetic fields.
