Fundamental limitations of the polarization purity of x rays

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2018
For a few years, x-ray polarimeters have been discussed and even used as a key method for the investigation of fundamental physical questions, from quantum electrodynamics to solid state physics. However, the sensitivity of optical instruments is limited.

Pitfalls of statistics-limited X-ray polarization analysis

open access: yes, 2018
One of the difficulties with performing polarization analysis is that the mean polarization fraction of sub-divided data sets is larger than the polarization fraction for the integrated measurement.

PCA-based denoising method for division of focal plane polarimeters.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2017
Division of focal plane (DoFP) polarimeters are composed of interlaced linear polarizers overlaid upon a focal plane array sensor. The interpolation is essential to reconstruct polarization information. However, current interpolation methods are based on

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Machine Learning-Based Estimation of PM2.5 Concentration Using Ground Surface DoFP Polarimeters

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In this paper, we propose a machine learning system for the estimation of atmospheric particulate matter (PM) concentration, specifically, particles with a maximum diameter of $2.5{\mu }\text{m}$ .

A high-efficiency spin-resolved phototemission spectrometer combining time-of-flight spectroscopy with exchange-scattering polarimetry

open access: yes, 2010
We describe a spin-resolved electron spectrometer capable of uniquely efficient and high energy resolution measurements. Spin analysis is obtained through polarimetry based on low-energy exchange scattering from a ferromagnetic thin-film target.

Indirect Band Edge and Chain‐Locked Linear Dichroism in the Quasi‐1D Van der Waals Antiferromagnet AgCrP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
AgCrP2S6 reveals a momentum‐indirect band edge (≈1.35 eV) and chain‐locked linear dichroism: the first direct transitions emerge at 1.6–1.8 eV for E||a. Resonant Raman and photoemission corroborate this assignment. In ACPS/graphene heterostructures, photocurrent turns on above ≈1.5 eV and follows the same polarization selection rules (anisotropy ≈0.53),
