On the Detection of Low‐Frequency Planetary Radio Emission With an Orbiting Interferometer

open access: yesRadio Science, Volume 61, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The magnetized planets of the outer Solar System produce kilometric radio emissions at very low frequencies (<1 ${< } 1\,$MHz). They reveal the planetary magnetic dynamics and their interaction with the solar wind. Those radio emissions can also serve as a proxy for interplanetary space weather monitoring.

Observing Seasonal Variabilities of a Permafrost Landscape With PolSAR, InSAR and Pol-InSAR

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) remote sensing is an established approach for observing Earth processes. The combination of different types of SAR acquisitions in polarimetric, interferometric, and polarimetric-interferometric frameworks is well studied ...

Polarimetry and photometry of the peculiar main-belt object 7968 = 133P/Elst-Pizarro

open access: yes, 2010
133P/Elst-Pizarro is an object that has been described as either an active asteroid or a cometary object in the main asteroid belt. Here we present a photometric and polarimetric study of this object in an attempt to infer additional information about ...

A Unified Vector Electromagnetic Framework for Ionospheric Scintillation and Polarization Effects in GNSS

open access: yesRadio Science, Volume 61, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The ionosphere imposes coupled amplitude, phase, and polarization distortions on trans‐ionospheric Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals, reflecting the structure and dynamics of electron‐density irregularities. Classical weak‐scatter theory provides a mature framework for interpreting amplitude and phase scintillation, but these ...

PolSAR Forest Height Estimation Enhancement With Polarimetric Rotation Domain Features and Multivariate Sensitivity Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Forest height is a critical indicator of forest health and can directly influence the carbon storage capacity of ecosystems. Polarimetric features extracted from polarimetric synthetic aperture radar play a crucial role in forest height estimation ...

Polarimetric Portraits

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2021
“Fully polarimetric” in its original radio science usage denotes a receiving instrument's ability to measure the four‐parameter Stokes vector characterizing the polarimetric properties of an electro‐magnetic (EM) field.

The Role of Evolutionary Age and Metallicity in the Formation of Classical Be Circumstellar Disks II. Assessing the Evolutionary Nature of Candidate Disk Systems

open access: yes, 2007
(Abridged version) We present the first detailed imaging polarization observations of six SMC and six LMC clusters, known to have large populations of B-type stars which exhibit excess H-alpha emission, to constrain the evolutionary status of these stars

Uncertainties in polarimetric 3D reconstructions of coronal mass ejections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This work is aimed at quantifying the uncertainties in the 3D reconstruction of the location of coronal mass ejections (CMEs) obtained with the polarization ratio technique.

Cloud Thermodynamic Phase Retrievals From Simultaneous Shortwave Infrared Multi‐Angle Polarization Measurements

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 10, 28 May 2026.
Abstract Accurate identification of cloud thermodynamic phases ‐warm water, supercooled water and ice—is essential for the global energy budget and hydrological cycle, and serves as a crucial prerequisite for retrieving cloud optical and microphysical parameters.

Polarimetric Channel Imbalance Evaluation of GF-3 SAR Products by Bragg-Like Targets

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Polarimetric calibration is crucial to ensure the accuracy and reliability of subsequent application results. Since Gaofen-3(GF-3) has been providing polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar images for six years, it is necessary to monitor the polarimetric ...
