Single-pixel polarimetric imaging [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2012
We present an optical system that performs Stokes polarimetric imaging with a single-pixel detector. This fact is possible by applying the theory of compressive sampling to the data acquired by a commercial polarimeter without spatial resolution. The measurement process is governed by a spatial light modulator, which sequentially generates a set of ...

Calibration of a polarimetric imaging SAR [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1992
Calibration using point targets is discussed. The fourport network calibration technique is used to describe the radar error model. The processor ambiguity function and the radar distortion matrices are combined to form a generalized polarimetric ambiguity function.

Polarimetric images with the GMRT [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of ISKAF2010 Science Meeting — PoS(ISKAF2010), 2010
We present the first set of polarimetric images made with the GMRT. These were obtained as part of the program to commission the polarization mode at the telescope. We find that the instrumental polarization leakage at the GMRT varies with frequency. It is hence necessary to solve for the leakage as a function of spectral channel.

Polarimetric images of a cone

open access: yesOptics Express, 1999
Scenes from a Mueller matrix movie of a brass cone are shown. From the Mueller matrix image, a variety of polarization measures are calculated and displayed. These polarization images reveal considerable details about the geometry of the cone despite the fact that the images are taken from a single vantage point, i. e. they are "flat images".

The Polarimetric and Helioseismic Imager on Solar Orbiter [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2020
Aims. This paper describes the Polarimetric and Helioseismic Imager on the Solar Orbiter mission (SO/PHI), the first magnetograph and helioseismology instrument to observe the Sun from outside the Sun-Earth line. It is the key instrument meant to address the top-level science question: How does the solar dynamo work and drive connections between the Sun

Feature Extraction for Moving Targets Based on the Statistical Characteristics of Echo Amplitude with the L-Band Fully Polarimetric Radar

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Non-imaging radar can achieve the detection and localization of moving targets, but it faces difficulties in the classification of targets. Aiming for the application of moving target classification by low/medium resolution non-imaging radar, this paper ...

Polarimetric imaging of biological tissues based on the indices of polarimetric purity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, 2017
We highlight the interest of using the indices of polarimetric purity (IPPs) to the inspection of biological tissues. The IPPs were recently proposed in the literature and they result in a further synthetization of the depolarizing properties of samples.

Polarimetric Calibration and Quality Assessment of the GF-3 Satellite Images

open access: yesSensors, 2018
The GaoFen-3 (GF-3) satellite is the first fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite designed for civil use in China. The satellite operates in the C-band and has 12 imaging modes for various applications.
