Polarimetric SAR stereo using Pi-SAR square loop path

Proceedings. 2005 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2005. IGARSS '05., 2005
This paper shows first results of polarimetric SAR stereo applied to urban areas. SAR stereo is known as a useful technique for three-dimensional mapping. Until now many approaches and results have been reported, based on single polarization measurements. But stereogrammetry has not been used with polarimetric information.

Polarimetric SAR Antenna Characterization

1989
Abstract : A procedure is described for obtaining the two-way polarimetric properties of a SAR antenna from one-way measurements in a compact antenna test range. The two-way properties are determined by involving reciprocity and computing a polarization distortion matrix (PDM).

Forest biomass estimation using polarimetric SAR interferometry

IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2003
Forest biomass is one of the most important and most unknown parameters for accurate global carbon stock modelling. In this paper we address an alternative methodology for estimating above ground forest biomass from radar remote sensing data, based on forest height estimates from single frequency polarimetric-interferometric SAR data.

Single pass polarimetric SAR interferometry

IGARSS '98. Sensing and Managing the Environment. 1998 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing. Symposium Proceedings. (Cat. No.98CH36174), 1998
During the past ten years, the NASA/JPL AIRSAR system has produced polarimetric and interferometric SAR data. SAR polarimetry is useful for characterizing scattering mechanisms while SAR interferometry yields high resolution topographic maps. For bare surfaces, the interferometric SAR topography represents true ground height.

Classification of Polarimetric SAR Images

2021
Polarized synthetic aperture image classification is an important application of image analysis and processing. Polarimetric SAR image classification can be divided into single-band, dual band, multi-band and interferometric fully polarized synthetic aperture radar image classification.

Polarimetric SAR for Automotive Applications

2018 15th European Radar Conference (EuRAD), 2018
A polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) implementation at 77 GHz for automotive applications is presented. Since the Pauli basis vectors cannot deliver logical results for the automotive scenario owing to the behaviour of the electric fields at a reflecting surface, a different method of evaluating the polarimetric SAR images, which is suited to the automotive ...

Polarimetric discriminators for SAR images

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 1992
A method is developed for optimizing the degree of polarization of a partially polarized wave reflected by a nonstationary scattering object. The method permits, for a scattered wave and a given target characterized by its Mueller matrix, analytic computation of the maximum and minimum values of the degree of polarization, and the corresponding ...

On polarimetric SAR speckle filtering

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
The advancement of SAR technology with high resolution and quad-polarization data demands better and efficient speckle filtering algorithms. In principle, filtering should be applied to distributed media only. Strong pointed targets should be kept unfiltered.

Phase Calibration Of Polarimetric SAR

International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 'Remote Sensing: Moving Toward the 21st Century'., 2005
Techniques were developed to measure the phase characteristics of a polarimetric imaging synthetic aperture radar (SAR). portion of the radar signature from an airborne, polarimetric SAR system, targets (dihedral and trihedral corner reflectors) with known characteristics were deployed, and several passes of polarimetric data collected.
