Compton Polarimetry

open access: yes, 2022
Photons preferentially Compton scatter perpendicular to the plane of polarisation. This property can be exploited to design instruments to measure the linear polarisation of hard X-rays ($\sim$10 - 100 keV). Photons may undergo two interactions in the sensitive volume of the instrument, i.e. a scattering followed by an absorption.

Design of Full Stokes Vector Polarimetry Based on Metasurfaces for Wide-Angle Incident Light

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Polarization measurement plays an important role in optical detection, communication, and imaging systems. Compact polarimetry with a wide angle of incident light will break the restrictions of the limited incident angle and improve its practicality.

Multispectral Stokes Imaging Polarimetry Based on Color CCD

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
In this paper, we propose a method for multispectral imaging polarimetry based on a color charge-coupled device (CCD), which can simultaneously measure the Stokes vectors at three wavelengths without significantly increasing the complexity of the system ...

X-ray polarimetry and its application to strong-field quantum electrodynamics

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering, 2023
Polarimetry is a highly sensitive method to quantify changes of the polarization state of light when passing through matter and is therefore widely applied in material science.

Full-Stokes Imaging Polarimetry Using Dielectric Metasurfaces [PDF]

open access: yesACS Photonics, 2018
Polarization is a degree of freedom of light carrying important information that is usually absent in intensity and spectral content. Imaging polarimetry is the process of determining the polarization state of light, either partially or fully, over an ...

Photoelectric Polarimetry and the Gas Pixel Detector Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

open access: yesGalaxies, 2018
Since the very beginning of X-ray Astronomy, polarimetry has been suggested as a tool of diagnostics, of great potentiality. While almost all measurements of X-rays were based on detectors using the photoelectric effect, the first attempt to perform ...

IDENTIFICATION OF TEMPORARY SURFACE WATER USING SENTINEL-1 SAR DATA, CASE STUDY: SENTANI FLASH FLOODING, INDONESIA [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2020
Temporary surface water monitoring can provide accurate and reliable information about the spatio-temporal level of surface water. This is very important for various environmental applications, such as flood monitoring.

Blazar Optical Polarimetry: Current Progress in Observations and Theories

open access: yesGalaxies, 2019
Polarimetry has been a standard tool to probe the active galactic nucleus (AGN) jet magnetic field. In recent years, several optical polarization monitoring programs have been carried out, bringing in many exciting new results and insights into jet ...

Entangled photon polarimetry [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
We construct an entangled photon polarimeter capable of monitoring a two-qubit quantum state in real time. Using this polarimeter, we record a nine frames-per-second video of a two-photon state's transition from separability to entanglement.
