The definite article in Romance expletives and long weak definites

open access: yesGlossa, 2017
This paper focuses on some issues involving expletive articles and long weak definites in Romance (mainly Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Catalan), in comparison to DPs that elicit a strong reading.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Mantle superplumes induce geomagnetic superchrons

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2015
We use polarity reversal systematics from numerical dynamos to quantify the hypothesis that the modulation of geomagnetic reversal frequency, including geomagnetic superchrons, results from changes in core heat flux related to growth and collapse of ...

A General Method to Develop Highly Environmentally Sensitive Fluorescent Probes and AIEgens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
Environmentally sensitive fluorescent probes (including AIEgens) play pivotal roles in numerous biological studies. Many of these functional materials are developed based on the twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) mechanism.

AtELP4 a subunit of the Elongator complex in Arabidopsis, mediates cell proliferation and dorsoventral polarity during leaf morphogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
The Elongator complex in eukaryotes has conserved tRNA modification functions and contributes to various physiological processes such as transcriptional control, DNA replication and repair, and chromatin accessibility.

Spin-Torque Diode Measurements of MgO-Based Magnetic Tunnel Junctions with Asymmetric Electrodes

open access: yes, 2011
We present a detailed study of the spin-torque diode effect in CoFeB/MgO/CoFe/NiFe magnetic tunnel junctions. From the evolution of the resonance frequency with magnetic field at different angles, we clearly identify the free-layer mode and find an ...

Modeling the Young Sun's Solar Wind and its Interaction with Earth's Paleomagnetosphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present a focused parameter study of solar wind - magnetosphere interaction for the young Sun and Earth, $~3.5$ Ga ago, that relies on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations for both the solar wind and the magnetosphere.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Data on Laurdan spectroscopic analyses to compare membrane fluidity between susceptible and multidrug-resistant bacteria

open access: yesData in Brief, 2018
The data presented are related to the research article entitled “Evaluation of membrane fluidity of multidrug-resistant isolates of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in presence and absence of antibiotics” (Bessa et al., 2018) [1].

Quality of Life and psychopathology in adults who underwent Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) in childhood: a qualitative and quantitative analysis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Patients who undergo pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) may experience long-term psychological sequelae and poor Quality of Life (QoL) in adulthood. This study aimed to investigate subjective illness experience, QoL, and
