Self-injection locking of the DFB laser through an external ring fiber cavity: Polarization behavior
We study stability of self-injection locking realized with DFB laser coupled with an external fiber optic ring cavity. Polarization behavior of the radiation circulating in the feedback loop is reported.

Distributed Transverse Stress Sensor Based on Mode Coupling in Weakly-Coupled FMF
Distributed optical fiber sensors (DOFSs) have faced the challenge of measuring transverse stress along the fiber and the current main approach has been based on polarization coupling effect in polarization-maintaining fibers (PMFs), which has short ...

Nonlinear dynamics of mode-locking optical fiber ring lasers [PDF]
We consider a model of a mode-locked fiber ring laser for which the evolution of a propagating pulse in a birefringent optical fiber is periodically perturbed by rotation of the polarization state owing to the presence of a passive polarizer.

Induced solitons formed by cross-polarization coupling in a birefringent cavity fiber laser [PDF]
We report on the experimental observation of induced solitons in a passively mode-locked fiber ring laser with birefringence cavity. Due to the cross coupling between the two orthogonal polarization components of the laser, it was found that if a soliton was formed along one cavity polarization axis, a weak soliton was also induced along the orthogonal

A hard X-ray solar flare polarimeter design based on scintillating fibers [PDF]
We have developed a design for a Compton scatter polarimeter to measure the polarization of hard X-rays (50–300 keV) from solar flares. The modular design is based on an annular array of scintillating fibers coupled to a 5-inch position-sensitive PMT ...

Polarization coupling in single-mode single-polarization optical fibers
Polarization coupling in single-mode, single-polarization optical fibers is investigated, and a set of coupled-mode equations for single-mode, single-polarization fibers including guided and leaky modes is derived.

Polarization-Maintaining Single-Frequency Fiber Laser With Quadruple Wavelengths at the C-Band
In this paper, a polarization-maintaining quad-wavelength (QW) single-frequency fiber laser (SFFL) at the C-band with the novel and compact structure is demonstrated. Applying the rate equations and multiple coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations,

Tunable 30W all-fiber laser emitting around 1850 nm [PDF]
We have demonstrated a tunable polarization maintaining thulium-doped fiber laser spanning the 1830nm-1880nm range with a fiber-coupled output power as high as 30W CW. The high- power booster stage is made using double clad fibers pumped with 793nm laser

Theory of Polarization Attraction in Parametric Amplifiers Based on Telecommunication Fibers [PDF]
