Polarization-independent Talbot effect

Optics Letters, 2015
We report the first observation of polarization-independent Talbot effect with a high-density grating for TE and TM polarizations, which is attributed to the identical phases and diffraction efficiencies of the diffraction orders for both polarizations.

Polarization-Independent Electrooptic Depolarizer

Integrated Photonics Research, 1995
Optical depolarizers are frequently used in optical measurement equipment as well as in fiberoptic sensors to remove undesired polarization sensitivity [1]. Recently, depolarizers have also been employed in long-haul all-optical communication systems to avoid polarization hole burning (anisotropic gain saturation) in the erbium-doped fiber amplifiers ...

Polarization-Independent Optical Injection Locking

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2017
A pluggable system making optical injection locking independent of the incoming signal's polarization-state is proposed and experimentally verified to maintain stable locking for random polarizations without performance loss in carrier recovery for coherent optical communications.

Polarization independent triple band ultrathin conformal metamaterial absorber for C- and X-frequency bands

, 2021
A triple-band polarization-independent conformal absorber for C- and X-frequency bands have been presented. The designed absorber comprises a Jerusalem cross resonator at the center, surrounded by a quarter part of a square rings resonator with different

Compact polarization-independent optical circulator

Applied Optics, 1981
This paper introduces a compact polarization-independent optical circulator for communications using multimode optical fibers. This circulator consists of two pairs of rutile prisms used as polarization separators, a YIG Faraday rotator, a ring-shaped magnet, and a quartz halfwave plate.

Broadband and polarization-independent waveguide-fiber coupling

Silicon Photonics XVIII, 2023
Waveguide-to-fiber coupling is one of the key challenges in silicon photonics. Many approaches have already been experimentally demonstrated, such as grating couplers, inverse tapers, sub-wavelength structures, lensed fibers, photonic wire bonds, small-core fibers and separate waveguide interposers.

Polarization-independent optical circulator: an experiment

Applied Optics, 1980
Many kinds of optical devices are being researched in various countries for application in optical fiber communication. Some devices have polarization-dependent characteristics that cause a decrease in the coupling efficiency of the optical fibers.

Ultra-compact polarization-independent 3 dB power splitter in silicon

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2021
We experimentally demonstrate a polarization-independent 3 dB power splitter (PIPS) assisted with subwavelength structure. The device possesses ultra-compact (1.2 µm × 2.62 µm) and polarization-independent features with an operating bandwidth over 50 nm (

Polarization-independent tunable reflector

2014 16th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics (ANTEM), 2014
In this paper, a novel tunable reflector with gain medium was designed, fabricated and measured. By incorporating active elements into two magnetic metamaterial SRRs, gain medium with positive loss, perfect losslessness and even negative loss can be tuned to switch the function of the active reflector among a perfect absorber, a perfect reflector and a

A polarization-independent grating resonator

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1997
A polarization-independent optical resonator based on a novel phase-shifted grating structure is proposed and analyzed. Its application as a polarization-independent optical wavelength filter with ultranarrow bandwidth and fine tunability is described.
