Stability Of Polarization-Independent LiNb03 Switches
SPIE Proceedings, 1989The performance of LiNb03 waveguide devices, e.g. switches and modulators, is impaired by drift in the output light characteristics when they are subject to temperature changes or DC voltages are applied to the electrodes 1,2,3,4,5. The latter phenomenon, known as DC drift, arises from free charge carriers present in the crystal, which move in the ...

Waveguide polarization-independent optical circulator
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1999We fabricated a new type of waveguide polarization-independent optical circulator which does not need a polarization-beam splitter. The circulator is based on a non-reciprocal Mach-Zehnder interferometer which consists of two waveguide Faraday rotators, two thin-film half-waveplates and two planar lightwave circuit-type 3-dB couplers.

Polarization-independent orbital angular momentum generator based on a chiral fiber grating.
Optics Letters, 2019A polarization-independent orbital angular momentum (OAM) generator, based on a chiral fiber grating (CFG), is proposed and demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge.

Design and fabrication of a polarization-independent HCG
2013 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Pacific Rim (CLEOPR), 2013We show a design of a single layer cross stripes HCG with polarization-independent broadband reflectivity at 1.55 μm and also fabrication of the HCG on silicon-on-insulator (SOI), which demonstrates the polarization-independent reflectivity as designed.

We propose a multiband metamaterial absorber consisting of silicon brick array on metal substrate in infrared range. Using the regular hexagon array of silicon bricks, the absorption rate can reach to 90% over the bandwidth of 100 nm, and four absorption

A Novel Miniaturized Polarization Independent Band-Stop Frequency Selective Surface
IEEE transactions on electromagnetic compatibility (Print), 2019A novel miniaturized frequency selective surface (FSS) with a band-stop response at 1.6 GHz is presented in this letter. The designed FSS comprises convoluted elements connected via plated-through holes, which increases the overall electrical length. The

Polarization-independent nonamer terahertz metamaterial
Infrared and Laser Engineering, 2017A nonamer metamaterial composed of nine split ring resonators with different orientations was experimentally and numerically researched in terahertz band. The nine split rings were arranged spirally. From the first split ring, the subsequent split rings were rotated anti-clockwise by 40.

Ultra-Compact Subwavelength-Grating-Assisted Polarization-Independent Directional Coupler
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2019We propose and experimentally demonstrate an ultra-compact, low-loss polarization-independent directional coupler on the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform.

Polarization independent metasurface energy harvester
2016 IEEE 17th Annual Wireless and Microwave Technology Conference (WAMICON), 2016We present a polarization independent metasurface electromagnetic energy harvester. A new metasurface harvester is composed of an ensemble of 8 × 8 electrically-small resonators arranged periodically on a Rogers substrate. The harvester is designed in such a way that the maximum power transfer occurs at 2.6 GHz. The proposed harvester has a low profile,

Polarization-independent broadband terahertz modulator
2011 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe and 12th European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO EUROPE/EQEC), 2011One of the major limitations of the existing single-pixel terahertz imaging systems is the lack of high speed broadband multi-pixel beam modulators with large modulation depths. So far there has been few works to demonstrate broadband terahertz multi-pixel beam modulators.
