Non-orthogonal polarization multiplexed metasurfaces for tri-channel polychromatic image displays and information encryption

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2021
Interference usually occurs between two non-orthogonally polarized light beams. Hence, metasurface enabled polarization multiplexing is generally conducted under two orthogonal polarization states to realize independent intensity and/or phase modulations.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Broad-band polarization-independent total absorption of electromagnetic waves by an overdense plasma

open access: yes, 2010
We have shown both experimentally and theoretically that polarization-independent broad-band absorption of electromagnetic waves by an overdense plasma, caused by surface plasmon-polaritons (SPP) excitation, can be achieved due to combination of two ...

Adiabaticity Engineered Silicon Polarization Independent 3-dB Coupler for the O-Band

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2023
We demonstrate a compact and broadband polarization independent 3-dB coupler for the O-band on silicon-on-insulator platform. Using the multi-parameter adiabaticity engineering protocol, unwanted coupling between eigenmodes in mode evolution couplers are

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Optical fiber Sagnac interferometer for sensing scalar directional refraction: application to magnetochiral birefringence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a set-up dedicated to the measurement of the small scalar directional anisotropies associated to the magnetochiral interaction. The apparatus, based on a polarization-independent fiber Sagnac interferometer, is optimized to be insensitive to ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

High-efficiency all-dielectric metalenses for multi-focus with arbitrary polarization

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
Metasurfaces, as novel ultrathin planar optical elements, have become a fascinating avenue to modulate one or more optical characteristics including phase, amplitude, and polarization.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Geometric metasurface enabling polarization independent beam splitting [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractA polarization independent holographic beam splitter that generates equal-intensity beams based on geometric metasurface is demonstrated. Although conventional geometric metasurfaces have the advantages of working over a broad frequency range and having intuitive design principles, geometric metasurfaces have the limitation that they only work ...
