Polarization-insensitive tunable terahertz polarization rotator

open access: yesOptics Express, 2019
A rotation-angle variable polarization rotator is proposed and demonstrated using an all-dielectric metasurface doublet. Such a transmissive device can conveniently rotate the polarization of incident light by any desired angles by mechanically changing the relative angle of the double metasurface layers regardless of the incident state of polarization.

Polarization-Insensitive Phase Modulators Based on an Embedded Silicon-Graphene-Silicon Waveguide

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
A polarization-insensitive phase modulator concept is presented, based on an embedded silicon-graphene-silicon waveguide. Simulation results show that the effective mode index of both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes in the ...

Polarization Insensitive Broadband Concentric- Annular-Strip Octagonal Terahertz Graphene Metamaterial Absorber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
In this paper, a polarization insensitive terahertz (THz) graphene metamaterial absorber (MA) with wide bandwidth is proposed, which consists of three concentric annular strips and one octagonal unit graphene structures. By adjusting the positions of the

Ultrabroadband Polarization-Insensitive Coupler Based on Dual-Core Photonic Crystal Fiber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We propose a dual-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) for a broad bandwidth polarization-insensitive coupler. To achieve ultrabroadband and polarization-insensitive characteristics, two elliptical fluorine-doped cores are introduced.

Polarization-insensitive tunable multiple electromagnetically induced transparencies analogue in terahertz graphene metamaterial

open access: yes, 2016
A graphene-based metamaterial structure composed of multilayer graphene/dielectric stacking configuration is proposed, which achieves multiple analogue of electromagnetically induced transparencies (EIT) effect at terahertz frequencies.

Design and Optimization of a Broadband Polarization-Insensitive 90° Optical Hybrid in Double-Strip Silicon Nitride Waveguides

open access: yesPhotonics
Coherent optical communication serves as the backbone of long-haul, high-capacity optical networks, where polarization-insensitive 90° optical hybrids (OHs) are crucial for system simplification and robustness.

A Polarization Insensitive Wide‐Band Perfect Absorber

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, 2019
In this article, a wide‐band and polarization‐insensitive perfect absorber composed of 4 sandwiched layers of dielectric and metal disks is introduced. Compared to classical perfect absorbers, the system supports near‐unity absorption within a wider spectral window through multiple perfect absorption mechanisms that exist due to a constituting inter ...

Polarization insensitive imaging through polarization gratings

open access: yesOptics Express, 2009
Liquid crystal polarization gratings exhibit high diffraction efficiency (approximately 100%) in thin material layers comparable to the radiation wavelength. We demonstrate that they can be combined for polarization-insensitive imaging and optical switching applications.
