The linear polarization of nearby bright stars measured at the parts per million level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report observations of the linear polarization of a sample of 49 nearby bright stars measured to sensitivities of between ~1 and 4 x 10^-6. The majority of stars in the sample show measurable polarization, but most polarizations are small with 75% of the stars having P < 2 x 10^-5.

Functional variation among LPMOs revealed by the inhibitory effects of cyanide and buffer ions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study addresses the inhibition of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) by cyanide and explains how and why the magnitude of observed inhibitory effects depends on the way LPMO reactions are setup and on the type of LPMO. Enzymes known as lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are mono‐copper polysaccharide‐degrading peroxygenases that ...

Observation of Pancharatnam-Berry phase for unpolarized and partially polarized light fields

open access: yesResults in Optics, 2021
Geometric phase, owing to its topological nature and properties of fault tolerance, plays an important role in devising real world applications in both classical and quantum domain.

The multiple roles of the NlpC_P60 peptidase family in mycobacteria – an underexplored target for antimicrobial drug discovery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

MobileViT model-based real-time fiber identification method for cashmere and wool

open access: yesJournal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics
The physical and morphological characteristics of wool and cashmere fibers exhibit notable similarities, making distinguishing them challenging. In this study, we propose a method based on a lightweight hybrid model called MobileViT, which combines a ...

Determination of polarization structures of an electromagnetic beam after passing through lens systems

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
We investigate the polarization structures of an electromagnetic (EM) beam after passing through 2-f and 4-f lens systems and possibilities to control them.

Dual-band polarization conversions and optical diode based on bilayer T-shaped metamaterial

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2022
In this work, we propose a dual-band optical diode based on a bilayer T-shaped metamaterial. This optical diode can conveniently convert the x-polarized wave to y-polarized one at about 106 THz and convert the y-polarized to x-polarized wave at around ...

Analyzing the Influence of Imaging Resolution on Polarization Properties of Scattering Media Obtained From Mueller Matrix

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
The Mueller matrix contains abundant micro- and even nanostructural information of media. Especially, it can be used as a powerful tool to characterize anisotropic structures quantitatively, such as the particle size, density, and orientation information
