A 14 × 14 μm2 footprint polarization-encoded quantum controlled-NOT gate based on hybrid waveguide

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Photonic circuits often require separate components to manipulate light with orthogonal polarization, but this increases the chip size. Here, the authors create a polarization-dependent beam-splitter that uses dielectric loaded plasmonic waveguides to ...

Terahertz reflectarray as a polarizing beam splitter

open access: yesOptics Express, 2014
A reflectarray is designed and demonstrated experimentally for polarization-dependent beam splitting at 1 THz. This reflective component is composed of two sets of orthogonal strip dipoles arranged into interlaced triangular lattices over a ground plane.

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

Interaction of MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode With KF‐AlF3‐Al2O3 at 800°C During Laboratory Scale Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A carbon‐free, as‐sintered MgO–steel cermet anode, fabricated via cold isostatic pressing using MgO–C refractory recyclate, was evaluated under laboratory‐scale K‐cryolite electrolysis at 800°C. Operation at this reduced temperature, combined with the electrolyte's limited electrical conductivity, led to an increase in cell voltage.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Omnidirectional polarization beam splitter for white light

open access: yesOptics Express, 2019
As a key element in optical systems, a broadband and omnidirectional polarization beam splitter has been long desired. Here, based on anisotropic metamaterials, a perfect polarizing beam splitter is theoretically designed for the extremely broad frequency and angle bands without energy loss. When an electromagnetic wave is incident on the beam splitter,
