An efficient broadband metasurface design for smart health care and future communication applications

open access: yesResults in Optics
We propose a broadband metasurface consisting of a novel compact resonator to achieve linear polarization conversion in reflection mode. This compact resonator is designed on Roger 5880 substrate, measuring 1.575 mm in thickness, and possessing a loss ...

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Single and Dual Helical Polarizers for Millimeter-Wave Horn Antennas

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation
This paper presents a helical-based polarizer integrated into the aperture of a pyramidal horn antenna, designed to convert linearly polarized radiated fields into either right- or left-handed circular polarization over two distinct bands. The integrated

Polarization-controlled tunable directional coupling of surface plasmon polaritons

open access: yes, 2013
Light can be coupled into propagating electromagnetic surface waves at a metal-dielectric interface known as surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs). This process has traditionally faced challenges in the polarization sensitivity of the coupling efficiency and

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Tunable Polarization Conversion and Rotation based on a Reconfigurable Metasurface

open access: yes, 2017
Polarization is an important property of electromagnetic (EM) wave and different polarization manipulations are required for varied optical applications.

Biomimetic Nanovaccine Integrating Dendritic Cell Exosomes with Tumor Cell Membranes for Sustained Prophylaxis Against Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We have developed DEX/GM, an all‐natural, personalizable hybrid vaccine designed by coating dendritic cell‐derived exosomes (DEX) onto tumor cell membranes (GM) for sustained prophylaxis against glioblastoma (GBM). ABSTRACT Glioblastoma (GBM), one of the most aggressive and lethal brain tumors, remains incurable with a poor clinical prognosis.

Enhanced Terahertz Thermoelectricity Via Engineered Van Hove Singularities and Nernst Effect in Moiré Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Moiré band engineering in graphene/hexagonal boron nitride–based superlattices unlocks van Hove singularities (VHSs) for terahertz (THz) optoelectronics. Tuning the Fermi level near these singularities, associated with secondary neutrality points (SNPs), enhances the photothermoelectric response.

Nonlinear properties of optical microfibres

open access: yes, 2013
Glass microfibre waveguides offer an intriguing platform for the investigation of nonlinear effects, due to their high effective nonlinearity which arises from the tight modal confinement down to dimensions comparable to the wavelength of guided light ...

Polarization conversion by dielectric subwavelength gratings in conical mounting

open access: yes, 2008
Subwavelength dielectric gratings are examined in total-internal-reflection configuration. It is demonstrated experimentally that such elements, fabricated in TiO2, can perform full polarization conversion from incident TE to TM with nearly 100 ...
