39.2: Polarization Conversion System Using a Polymer Polarization Grating

SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2011
Abstract We describe a new Polarization Conversion System (PCS) concept, particularly well suited for pico‐projectors, employing a polymer polarization grating thin‐film, fly‐eye lens, and louvered halfwave plate. We demonstrate improved polarization‐conversion in the PG‐based PCS, leading to enhanced brightness (12%) and color ...

Asymmetric Polarization Conversion in Polarization Holograms with Surface Relief

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2008
We have developed holographic gratings that enable the asymmetric polarization conversion between ±1-order diffraction beams. The holographic gratings are formed by polarization holography in a poly[(methyl methacrylate)-co-(disperse yellow 7 methacrylate)] film and show both anisotropic phase and surface modulations.

Efficient and monolithic polarization conversion system based on a polarization grating

Applied Optics, 2012
We introduce a new polarization conversion system (PCS) based on a liquid-crystal polarization grating (PG) and louvered wave plate. A simple arrangement of these elements laminated between two microlens arrays results in a compact and monolithic element, with the ability to nearly completely convert unpolarized input into linearly polarized output ...

Conversion of keratometer readings to polar values

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1990
Corneal astigmatism is a complex entity that has direction and magnitude. This study reports a new method to describe corneal astigmatism within the with- and against-the-rule concept. Each net astigmatism of the maximal power M in the meridian alpha may be divided into two dioptric components: a with-the-rule astigmatism projected on the 90-degree ...

Polarization conversion metasurface enabled broadband circularly polarized patch antenna

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters
AbstractAssembling polarization conversion metasurface (PCM) and a simple patch antenna to realize a circularly polarized (CP) antenna with over 10% fractional bandwidth (BW) is a challenging task. A kind of PCM composed of S‐ring and grating structure that converts linearly polarized (LP) wave into CP wave in a broadband frequency from 8.74 to 12 GHz ...
