Design of Transmission Polarization Metasurface Converter

Materials Science Forum, 2021
The transmission polarization metasurface converter is an effective method to realize the polarization manipulation of the transmission waves, and it is also the research hotspot of metasurfaces. A new broadband transmissive polarization converter was proposed based on the metasurfaces converted incident linearly polarized waves into circularly ...

A W-Band Polarization Converter and Isolator

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2007
A 95-GHz printed low-loss linear-to-circular polarizer is designed as a component of an active direct-detection millimeter-wave imaging system. The periodic printed grid structure presents different reactances to the TE and TM polarizations, resulting in equal amplitude and phase quadrature upon transmission through four parallel grids.

Whispering gallery mode microresonators as polarization converters

Optics Letters, 2007
A ring resonator coupled to a waveguide can be used as a highly efficient polarization converter when the input is properly polarized. We model this phenomenon and verify the predictions with a demonstration of very efficient polarization conversion (>90%) on a silica microsphere coupled to a tapered optical fiber.

Active Polarization Converter in AlGaAs

Nonlinear Guided Waves and Their Applications, 1998
Asymmetric AlGaAs waveguides working in a cross-phase modulation regime and operated at photon energies below the band gap could be promising for the design of active TE-TM polarization converters. Crucially important for devices with asymmetrical cross-section is the orientation of the optical axes to maximize the TE-TM conversion.

POLARIZATION SWITCHING ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTER

Integrated Ferroelectrics, 2006
ABSTRACT This paper describes a new ferroelectric based circuit that is used to perform analog to digital conversion function. The successive approximation analog to digital conversion utilizes polarization switching properties of ferroelectric capacitors as a novel analog to digital conversion medium.

Silicon microring based elastic polarization converter

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
We designed a silicon microring based elastic polarization converter, which can realize arbitrary polarization conversion between any two of linear, circular, and elliptic polarization states. Simulation results show good polarization converting characteristics at resonance condition.

High efficiency broadband metamaterial polarization converter

2016 Progress in Electromagnetic Research Symposium (PIERS), 2016
A high efficiency broadband reflective polarization converter based on metamaterial is proposed, analyzed and measured. The substrate is FR4 with thickness of 3mm and the period is 8 mm. Simulated results show that the polarization conversion ratio is above 90% from 9.50 GHz to 15.41 GHz and it's above 99% at frequencies 10.43 ∼ 12.38 GHz and 13.90 ...

Novel Polarization-Controllable TE21 Mode Converter

IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 2005 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science, 2005
Summary form only given. We report the concept and development of a Ka-band two-port mode and polarization converter that efficiently converts a TE10 rectangular waveguide mode into either a linearly or a circularly polarized TE21 cylindrical waveguide mode.

Microphone acoustical polar pattern converter

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1991
A microphone acoustical polar pattern converter conveniently converts the acoustical polar pattern of a microphone from cardioid to supercardioid and back at will. The converter includes primarily a body of a tubular body portion fitted forward of the microphone head.

Polarization converters using optical nano-waveguides

Advanced Photonics Congress, 2012
Polarization converters using optical nano-waveguides are proposed and investigated numerically. An extinction ratio of more than 15 dB is obtained over a wavelength range of 1.3 μm to 1.7 μm for an embedded air-core waveguide.
