A Circularly Polarized Horn Antenna Based on an FSS Polarization Converter

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2020
This letter designed a circularly polarized horn antenna by loading a frequency selective surface (FSS) polarization converter at the aperture of a standard horn. The proposed polarization converter is based on multilayer nonresonant FSS. It is composed of a two-layer dielectric slab and three printed metal layers, which are etched on the top, middle ...

A 540-MHz 10-b polar-to-Cartesian converter

IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 1991
A 10-b polar-to-Cartesian converter for generating digital sine and cosine waveforms simultaneously with a maximum sample rate of 540 MHz is presented. The converter is derived from a coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC) processor. Implementation details and the chip layout are given.

Whispering gallery mode microresonators as polarization converters

Optics Letters, 2007
A ring resonator coupled to a waveguide can be used as a highly efficient polarization converter when the input is properly polarized. We model this phenomenon and verify the predictions with a demonstration of very efficient polarization conversion (>90%) on a silica microsphere coupled to a tapered optical fiber.

Active Polarization Converter in AlGaAs

Nonlinear Guided Waves and Their Applications, 1998
Asymmetric AlGaAs waveguides working in a cross-phase modulation regime and operated at photon energies below the band gap could be promising for the design of active TE-TM polarization converters. Crucially important for devices with asymmetrical cross-section is the orientation of the optical axes to maximize the TE-TM conversion.

Analysis of polarization conversion in AlGaAs/GaAs electrooptic polarization converter

Optics Communications, 2006
A numerical simulation study of the polarization conversion phenomenon in deeply etched semiconductor electrooptic polarization converter is presented. Based on a powerful and versatile finite element method, the effects of various parameters on the polarization conversion in electrooptic semiconductor polarization converter are reported.

Mechanically Reconfigurable Polarization Converter for Terahertz Waves

IEEE Transactions on Terahertz Science and Technology
In terahertz systems, polarization conversion is usually carried out using conventional waveplates. However, limitations in these waveplates arise from inadequate material accessibility, relatively narrow bandwidth, low efficiency, and bulkiness. To overcome these limitations, a transmissive terahertz metasurface with mechanically reconfigurable ...

POLARIZATION SWITCHING ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTER

Integrated Ferroelectrics, 2006
ABSTRACT This paper describes a new ferroelectric based circuit that is used to perform analog to digital conversion function. The successive approximation analog to digital conversion utilizes polarization switching properties of ferroelectric capacitors as a novel analog to digital conversion medium.

Design of a flexible linear polarization converter

Physica Scripta
Abstract Polarisation converters frequently encounter limitations, such as restricted flexibility and instability under oblique incidence, which impede their application in radar cross-section (RCS) reduction on conformal surfaces. To overcome issues of narrow bandwidth and a diminished polarisation conversion ratio (PCR) at large ...
