On the completeness of polarization diversity measurements

Radio Science, 1989
Polarization measurements are deemed complete when measurement at an additional polarization yields no new information. This condition is satisfied, in completely polarized scatter, by measurements of the four elements of the scattering matrix; this can be accomplished by transmitting a particular polarization and its orthogonal.

Polarization diversity performance for UMTS

11th International Conference on Antennas and Propagation (ICAP 2001), 2001
The performance of polarization diversity at the handset is investigated for UMTS. The paper shows that polarization diversity can provide gains of at least 3 dB and that the configuration with two slanting antennas at ±45 degrees to the vertical performs 1 dB-2 dB better than the horizontal-vertical configuration.
