The orthogonality of Mode Division Multiplexing (MDM) with Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and Polarization Division Multiplexing (PDM) is investigated applying WDM and PDM transmission over the LP11 mode in a few-moded fiber. Two wavelengths, each carrying 10Gbit/s signals in two orthogonal polarizations are successfully transmitted with the ...

Silicon-Based Hybrid (de)Multiplexer for Wavelength-/Polarization-Division-Multiplexing
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2018A novel hybrid multiplexer for wavelength-division- multiplexing (WDM) and polarization-division-multiplexing (PDM) is proposed and realized by integrating a polarization-splitter-rotator (PSR) and an optical-filter array based on novel microring resonators (MRRs).

Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing: from Single Polarization to Dual Polarization
2019 24th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference (OECC) and 2019 International Conference on Photonics in Switching and Computing (PSC), 2019In this paper, we review the recent progress of Nonlinear Frequency Division Multiplexing (NFDM) transmission research. In addition, we also highlight the challenges of NFDM transmissions in practical implementation conditions and provide the future outlook.

Experimental demonstration of Absolute Polar Duty Cycle Division Multiplexing
2012 6th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems, 2012The authors report experimental demonstration of a 2-channel (2 × 2.5 Gb/s) Absolute Polar Duty Cycle Division Multiplexing (AP-DCDM) system, using a single modulator over a single wavelength. The back-to-back receiver sensitivities and chromatic dispersion tolerance (at BER=10−9) for the worst AP-DCDM channel were −41.7 dBm and ∼ + 365 ps/nm ...

The Polarization Division Multiplexing VSB transmission for terrestrial broadcasting systems
IEEE international Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting, 2012In this paper, we present a Polarization Division Multiplexing (PDM)-Vestigial Sideband (VSB) transmission technique for advanced terrestrial broadcasting systems. The PDM-VSB transmission combines a PDM composing of polarization states and rotation matrices, and VSB filtering in order to improve both spectral efficiency and reception performance of ...

A novel method of polarization state control for polarization division multiplexing system
Chinese Optics Letters, 2008We describe a new algorithm in a cost effective polarization division multiplexing (PDM) system. Without modifying the existing transmitter, receiver electronics, or softwares, we use a special optical scheme to demultiplex the signal multiplexed and improve it with a conjugated gradient algorithm. We experimentally resume the polarization state with a

Polarization-division multiplexed solitons in optical fibers with polarization-mode dispersion
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1998We point out that the use of polarization-division multiplexed solitons is only preferable to a copolarized pulse train only if the system is interaction-limited and the polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) is sufficiently weak. If the PMD is stronger, copolarized solitons perform better than polarization-division multiplexed ones.

Benefiting from the high spectral efficiency and low peak-to-average power ratio, constant envelope orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a promising technique in coherent optical communication. Polarization-division multiplexing (PDM) has been employed as an effective way to double the transmission capacity in the commercial 100 Gb/s ...

Robust Carrier Recovery in Polarization Division Multiplexed Receivers
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2012We present a novel carrier recovery which can track fast and large sinusoidal frequency oscillations of commercially available lasers and efficiently compensate for laser noise. Q gain of 0.8 dB is recorded in offline experiments.

Modelling of a polarization-division multiplexing soliton transmission system
Journal of Optics, 1998We have simulated numerically a polarization-division multiplexing soliton transmission system by using propagation equations with and without the third-order dispersion and Raman shift terms, respectively. It is found that the Raman shift terms can reduce the soliton interactions and hence the allowed transmission distance increases. Resume.
