Strong polarization mode coupling in microresonators
We observe strong modal coupling between the TE00 and TM00 modes in Si3N4 ring resonators revealed by avoided crossings of the corresponding resonances. Such couplings result in significant shifts of the resonance frequencies over a wide range around the

Statistical determination of the length dependence of high-order polarization mode dispersion [PDF]
We describe a method of characterizing high-order polarization mode dispersion (PMD).Using a new expansion to approximate the Jones matrix of a polarization-dispersive medium, we study the length dependence of high-order PMD to the fourth order. A simple

The characterization of step index single mode silica fiber for long haul signal communication
The optical properties of single mode fibers, which are drawn from the silica preform made by MCVD technique, have been studied. The properties such as cutoff wavelength, chromatic dispersion, and polarization mode dispersion (PMD) were studied for 2.3 ...

Properties of the Quarter-Wave Bragg Reflection Waveguide: Theory [PDF]
The Bragg reflection waveguide (BRW), or one-dimensional photonic crystal waveguide, has recently been proposed for a wide spectrum of applications ranging from particle acceleration to nonlinear frequency conversion.

We study the feasibility of nonlocally compensating for polarization mode dispersion (PMD), when polarization entangled photons are distributed in fiber-optic channels. We quantify the effectiveness of nonlocal compensation while taking into account the ...

An analysis is presented of wave-vector dispersion in elliptically birefringent stratified magneto-optic media having one-dimensional periodicity. It is found that local normal-mode polarization-state differences between adjacent layers lead to mode ...

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Polarization and frequency disentanglement of photons via stochastic polarization mode dispersion
We investigate the quantum decoherence of frequency and polarization variables of photons via polarization mode dispersion in optical fibers. By observing the analogy between the propagation equation of the field and the Schr\"odinger equation, we ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

The impacts of polarization\|dependent dispersion on systems are investigated brefly, based on which we propose a threestage higherorder polarization mode dispersion(PMD) compensation scheme. Theoretical analysis shows that it is capable of compensating polarization\|dependent dispersion and principal states of polarization rotation rate at the same ...
