Fresnel and Fraunhofer diffraction of a Gaussian beam with several polarization singularities [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2018
Alongside phase singularities (optical vortices), there may be light fields with polarization singularities (PS), i.e. isolated intensity nulls with radial, azimuthal, or radial-azimuthal polarization around them.

Generation of vector beams with different polarization singularities based on metasurfaces

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2022
In view of wide applications of vector beams and powerful light manipulation ability of metasurfaces, this paper studies the generation of two kinds of vector beams with different polarization singularities based on metasurfaces. One kind of vector beams

Hilbert's Hotel in polarization singularities.

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2017
We demonstrate theoretically how the creation of polarization singularities by the evolution of a fractional nonuniform polarization optical element involves the peculiar mathematics of countably infinite sets in the form of "Hilbert's Hotel." Two distinct topological processes can be observed, depending on the structure of the fractional optical ...

Dynamically tunable polarized mid-infrared light-emitting diodes from polarization singularities in a band-edge Weyl node [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
The polarization states of light-emitting devices in conventional semiconductors are typically deterministically fixed by optical transition selection rules. However, in emerging Weyl semiconductors, band-crossing Weyl nodes introduce exotic polarization

Spatial Bunching of Same-Index Polarization Singularities in Two-Dimensional Random Vector Waves [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2018
Topological singularities are ubiquitous in many areas of physics. Polarization singularities are locations at which an aspect of the polarization ellipse of light becomes undetermined or degenerate.

Topological radiation from vortex masers [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Vortex singularities in acoustic and electromagnetic fields are instrumental degrees of freedom in advanced wavefront-shaping schemes and robust high-throughput communications.

Momentum analyticity of the holographic electric polarizability in 2 + 1 dimensions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
The static electric polarization of a holographic field theory dual to the Einstein-Maxwell theory in the background of AdS 4 with a Reissner-Nordström (AdS-RN) black hole is investigated.

Observation of Polarization Singularities at the Nanoscale

open access: yesConference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
With a phase-sensitive near-field microscope we measure independently the two in-plane electric field components of light propagating through a 2D photonic crystal waveguide and the phase difference between them. Consequently, we are able to reconstruct the electric vector field distribution with subwavelength resolution.

Topological links and knots of speckled light mediated by coherence singularities [PDF]

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
Links and knots are exotic topological structures that have garnered significant interest across multiple branches of natural sciences. Coherent links and knots, such as those constructed by phase or polarization singularities of coherent light, have ...
