Complete genome sequence of a novel grapevine-infecting member of the genus Polerovirus, grapevine polerovirus 1

Archives of Virology, 2020
Double-stranded RNAs and total RNAs purified from grapevine (Vitis vinifera) phloem scrapings of two varieties held in the INRAE (France) grapevine germplasm collection were analyzed by high-throughput sequencing. BLAST annotation revealed contigs with homology to Polerovirus genus members.

Complete genome sequence of a novel polerovirus infecting Cynanchum rostellatum

Archives of Virology, 2023
We detected a virus-like sequence in Cynanchum rostellatum leaves showing yellow mottle symptoms, found in Tokyo, Japan. RNA-Seq analysis revealed that the complete nucleotide sequence of the virus genome was 5,878 nucleotides in length and that it contained seven open reading frames (ORFs) specific to members of the genus Polerovirus.

Complete genome sequences of cowpea polerovirus 1 and cowpea polerovirus 2 infecting cowpea plants in Burkina Faso

Archives of Virology, 2017
The full-length genome sequences of two novel poleroviruses found infecting cowpea plants, cowpea polerovirus 1 (CPPV1) and cowpea polerovirus 2 (CPPV2), were determined using overlapping RT-PCR and RACE-PCR. Whereas the 5845-nt CPPV1 genome was most similar to chickpea chlorotic stunt virus (73% identity), the 5945-nt CPPV2 genome was most similar to ...

Siratro latent polerovirus (SLPV): a new polerovirus from Australia with a non-functional open reading frame 0

Australasian Plant Pathology, 2019
Macroptilium atropurpureum (siratro) samples from Queensland, Australia were collected as part of virus surveys and screened using tissue blot immunoassays for the presence of luteoviridae viruses. Sequencing of a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) product, generated with degenerate primers for poleroviruses, revealed the non ...

First Report of Strawberry Polerovirus 1 in Strawberry in Nepal

Plant Disease, 2022
Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) was introduced to Nepal from Japan in the 1990s, and thus, is a relatively new crop in the country. After the initial introduction of cultivar 'Nyoho' in Kakani, Nuwakot, different agencies and growers have introduced a number of cultivars in large numbers from Japan, Europe, America and India to expand the ...

Sequencing and phylogenetic characterization of a novel Polerovirus from Nicotiana tabacum

Virus Genes, 2020
In this study, we reported the complete genome of a novel Polerovirus, named Tobacco yellow virus (TYV), which can be transmitted by Myzus persicae. TYV had a single-stranded RNA genome of 5735 nucleotides in length and contained six putative open reading frames (ORFs).

     Polerovirus

2016
Viruses of the genus Polerovirus are serious pathogens of economically important crops causing severe yield losses. Although some species such as BWYV, CtRLV and PLRV are amongst the first plant viruses characterized worldwide, a rapid increase in poleroviral species has been observed in the last decade.
