Experimental assessment of the damping of steel poles and monotubular towers
1999The evaluation of the wind-induced response of light and slender structures is strictly bound to damping modeling. While several papers exist dealing with damping of buildings, forecasting models concerning steel poles and tubular towers are almost totally lacking.

Damping of wind poles and monotubular towers under wind action
1999The paper studies the role of the energy dissipation in the wind excited response of steel poles and monotubular towers. Its first part formulates the equations of motion focusing the role of aerodynamic terms and damping coefficients; different physical phenomena involved in dissipation are studied through classical damping of full scale poles.
