Challenges of translating C. S. Lewis’s “The Problem of Pain” into Polish and Spanish by professional translators – comparative and evaluative perspectives [PDF]

open access: yesStudia Translatorica
The article discusses diverse translation challenges which translators may be confronted with while working on target-language renditions of C. S. Lewis’s “The Problem of Pain”. To present his thoughts and theses, this famous British writer, philosopher,

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Geschlossen, lang oder gespannt? Die Beschreibung der Artikulation niederländischer Vokale aus einer polykonfrontativen (und didaktischen) Perspektive [PDF]

open access: yesLinguistische Treffen in Wrocław
By analyzing the descriptions of Dutch vowels in the selected literature in four languages (Dutch, Polish, German and English), this paper addresses issues at the intersection of terminology and phonetics, while also placing them in the context of ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Türkiye-Polonya İlişkilerinin Tesisinde Başlıca Dış Dinamiklerin Fonksiyonu

open access: yesJournal of Universal History Studies, 2019
Dünya tarihinin iki kadim milleti olan Polonyalılar/Lehler ve Türklerin ikili ilişkilerinde hem Osmanlı Devleti hem de Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin kuruluş döneminde temel dış dinamiklerden biri Çarlık Rusya/Sovyet Rusya’nın izlediği dış politika olmuştur. 20.
