Investigation of Polishing Pads Impregnated with Fe and Al2O3 Particles for Single-Crystal Silicon Carbide Wafers

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2016
This study focuses on the development of a novel polishing pad for SiC wafers. Fe and Al2O3 particles were impregnated in a polyurethane matrix, thus forming a fixed abrasive polishing pad.

Polish device for FOCCoS/PFS slit system

open access: yes, 2014
The Fiber Optical Cable and Connector System, FOCCoS, for the Prime Focus Spectrograph, PFS, is responsible for transporting light from the Subaru Telescope focal plane to a set of four spectrographs. Each spectrograph will be fed by a convex curved slit

Float-polishing process and analysis of float-polished quartz [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A fluid-mechanical model is developed for the float-polishing process. In this model laminar flow between the sample and the lap results in pressure gradients at the grooves that support the sample on a fluid layer. The laminar fluid motion also produces

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Polishing Performance and Removal Mechanism of Core-Shell Structured Diamond/SiO2 Abrasives on Sapphire Wafer

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
Corrosive and toxic solutions are normally employed to polish sapphire wafers, which easily cause environmental pollution. Applying green polishing techniques to obtain an ultrasmooth sapphire surface that is scratch-free and has low damage at high ...

Acid Polishing of Lead Crystal Glass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The industrial partner manufactures high quality lead crystal glassware. The cutting of decorative features in the glass damages the surface and the cuts are optically opaque; to restore transparency, the glass is polished in a solution of hydrofluoric ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.
