CHROMATIN EXTRUSION AND CYTOMIXIS IN POLLEN MOTHER CELLS OF HORDEUM
HROMATIN extrusion and cytomisis or the transfer of nuclear C material from one cell to an adjacent cell has been reported in many plant genera for a number of years (SARVELLA, 1958). During cytological analysis of a number of barley mutants induced by X-rays and neutrons many pollen mother cells were found with a clear evidence of chromatin extrusion ...

An account of chromosomal damage in PMCs of stripe rust infected barley
A study, on the effects of natural mild fungal infection on meiosis of Barley Pollen Mother Cells (PMCs), was done in order to analyze the chromosomal damage elicited by the pathogenic conditions.

On the Possible Transformation and Vanishment of Epistemic Objects [PDF]
When considering the question of possible transformation and disappearance of scientific objects, it is useful to distinguish between epistemic and technical objects. This paper presents preliminary observations and offers a typology of obsolescence.

Cytomixis in Pollen Mother Cells of Polygonum tomentosum Schrank.
Cytomixis, representing the migration of chromatic material from one cell to another, was observed in PMC's of Polygonum tomentosum Schrank. Cytomixis was observed at all stages of meiosis, but became less frequent in the later stages of meiosis. Direct nuclear fusion and cytoplasmic connections between cells were noted, so that a series of PMC's were ...

Maize Prolonged Prophase 1 is essential for meiotic progression in pollen mother cells
Meiosis, a critical process for sexual reproduction, requires precise regulation to ensure the correct progression of meiotic stages. In yeast and animals, errors in meiotic recombination and homologous chromosomes synapsis bring a surveillance mechanism

A genetic and molecular model for flower development in Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]
Cells in developing organisms do not only differentiate, they differentiate in defined patterns. A striking example is the differentiation of flowers, which in most plant families consist of four types of organs: sepals, petals, stamens and carpels, each

Cytomixis in pollen mother cells of alopecurus arundinaceus poir.
Cytomixis has been observed for the first time in a tetraploid Alopecurus arundinaceus (2n=4x=28). This phenomenon has resulted in the formation of hypo- and hyperploid cells which, however, failed to reach later stages of meiosis.
