Adding value to under-utilised Irish fish roe: a physico-chemical and sensory comparison of cured Irish pollock (Pollachius pollachius) roe with commercial mullet (Mugil cephalus) and cod (Gadus morhua) products

open access: yesIrish Journal of Agricultural and Food Research, 2020
Irish marine fish roe is generally discarded at sea or processed as low value-added fishmeal and not utilised as nutritious seafood ingredients. Locally sourced pollock roes were salted, air-dried (Mediterranean-style) and compared to similar commercial ...

Some aspects of biology and fishery of walleye pollock Theragra chalcogramma in the southwestern Chukchi Sea relative to the size and age structure

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2022
Catch distribution and size-age structure of walleye pollock in the Chukchi Sea are considered on the data obtained in surveys conducted by TINRO in 2018–2020. The age of pollock was determined by otoliths.

A mitogenomic approach to the taxonomy of pollocks: Theragra chalcogramma and T. finnmarchica represent one single species

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2007
Background The walleye pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) and Norwegian pollock (T. finnmarchica) are confined to the North Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans, respectively, and considered as distinct species within the family Gadidae. We have determined the

Distribution and abundance of walleye pollock Theragra chalcogramma in the northwestern Bering Sea in the summer-fall period of 2020 and their interannual variability

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2023
Spatial distribution and abundance of walleye pollock are considered for the northwestern Bering Sea in the summer-fall of 2020 on the data of echo-integration trawl-acoustic survey. The pollock aggregated mostly in the shelf areas with positive or close

Why does the pollock (Theragra chalcogramma) abundance change

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2016
Some common ideas about environmental factors that determine the patterns of migration (including timing) and stock dynamics of walleye pollock are critically analyzed with particular attention to the Bering Sea. There is shown that the conception of the
