Poloxamer Thermogel Systems as Medium for Crystallization
Pharmaceutical Research, 2011To prepare a thermoreversible gel system able to work as a medium for crystallization at around 20°C, allowing easy retrieval of crystals by simply decreasing the gel temperature. Lactose was selected has model substance for crystallization.Water solutions with different% of poloxamer 407, α-Lactose monohydrate, and ethanol were prepared and analysed ...

Enhanced Oral Bioavailability of Ibuprofen in Rats by Poloxamer Gel Using Poloxamer 188 and Menthol
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2005To improve the oral bioavailability of poorly water-soluble ibuprofen with poloxamer and menthol, the effects of menthol and poloxamer 188 on the aqueous solubility of ibuprofen were investigated. The dissolution and pharmacokinetic study of ibuprofen delivered by the ibuprofen-loaded preparations composed of poloxamer 188 and menthol were then ...

Poloxamer-based stimuli-responsive biomaterials
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2018Abstract Advanced materials are the combination of theory and practice. They pave the way for elegant solutions to the challenges engineers are facing in designing high-performance materials for harsh conditions. Stimuli-response polymers lie in such family as they exhibit strongly sensitive to the surrounding condition.

Rheological properties of poloxamer vehicles
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1984Abstract The rheological behavior of poloxamer vehicles as a function of composition and temperature was evaluated using continuous shear methods. For poloxamer vehicles in the sol state (low concentration and temperature) a linear relationship was observed between shear rate and shear stress. For some of the vehicles, as concentration or temperature

Permeation of Piroxicam from the Poloxamer Gels
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1999Topical formulations of piroxicam were prepared using poloxamer 407 or poloxamer 188 by a cold method, and the permeation characteristics of piroxicam were evaluated. The permeation rate of piroxicam across the synthetic cellulose membrane and the rat skin decreased as the concentration of poloxamer increased.

Abstract The gelling temperature of Poloxamer 407/Poloxamer 188 (16%/10%) mixture solution increased with increasing amount of surfactants. Among surfactants tested, the order of effectiveness in increasing the gelling temperature was sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) > tween 20 > cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC).

Poloxamer association in aqueous solution
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1982Abstract Aqueous solutions of the surface active poly(oxyethylene)-poly(oxypropylene)-poly(oxyethylene) block copolymers (poloxamers) were studied using photon correlation spectroscopy (quasi-elastic light scattering) and viscosity measurements. Poloxamers 184 and 237 showed detectable aggregates at 25° only at concentrations above about 6% with size

Physicochemical Characterizations of Piroxicam-Poloxamer Solid Dispersion
Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, 1997To develop an efficient topical delivery system for piroxicam using poloxamer gel formulation, physicochemical behavior of piroxicam in poloxamer was studied. The gelling property of poloxamer and the solubility of piroxicam in the poloxamer were investigated.

Poloxamers (PXMs) are amphiphilic non-ionic block polymers commonly used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. In spite of the wide use of PXMs, few studies have dealt with the analysis of these polymers in pharmaceutical preparations. In this work, high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) has been used to quantify both PXM-188 and ...

Poloxamer 188 as vehicle for injectable diazepam
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1980The significant occurrence of thrombophlebitis in patients administered diazepam intravenously was described recently. This side effect has been attributed to the crystallization of diazepam and its subsequent precipitation upon contact with blood or intravenous fluids.
