A new versatile thiophene derivative exomethylene-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (emEDOT) is introduced. The molecule can be straightforwardly prepared in two steps from commercially available derivatives and enables facile further derivatization through both acid catalyzed additions of alcohols and standard thiol-ene click chemistry.

Synthesis and characterization of perfluorohexylated poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)
Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 2004The perfluorohexylated 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene 5 was prepared via Mitsunobu reaction of perfluorohexylatyed diol 2 with diethyl 3,4-dihydroxythiophenedicarboxylate followed by decarboxylation. The polymerization of 5 was conducted with both oxidative chemical and electrochemical polymerizations. The polymers were characterized by cyclic voltammogram,

Reliability of poly 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene strain gauge
Microelectronic Engineering, 2007We report on the experimentally observed reliability of the piezoresistive effect in strained poly 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (PEDT). PEDT is an intrinsic conductive polymer which can be patterned by conventional Cleanroom processing, and thus presents a promising material for all-polymer Microsystems.
