The following chapter is a collection of monomers that undergo organocatalyzed ring-opening polymerizations and have not been covered in a separate chapter of this book. This includes polymers widely used in industrial applications, but also solely academically relevant and more “exotic” polymer classes. As most of these polymers contain heteroatoms in

Structure of Poly d(A)· Poly d(T)
Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 1992On the basis of the x-ray data from polycrystalline and well oriented fibers of the sodium salt of poly d(A).poly d(T) (Arnott et al, Nucl. Acids Res. 11, 4141-4155 (1983), a revised B'-DNA model incorporating B-like adenine and thymine strands is shown to give a much better x-ray agreement (R = 0.25) than the previously assigned model consisting of ...

Conformations of poly[d(A-T-T)]·poly[d(A-A-T)]
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1975The sodium salt of poly[d(A-T-T)]·poly[d(A-A-T)] is observed in oriented and partially crystalline fibers to have the classical B -DNA molecular conformation at relative humidities >85% and the B -type D -form hitherto observed only for poly[d(Pur-Pyr)]·poly[d(Pyr-Pur)] DNAs, at relative humidities of zero to 85%.

Poly(organosilanes), Poly(carbosilanes), Poly(organosilazanes) [PDF]
Attempts to completely replace the carbon in n-alkanes by the next element of group IV, silicon has been of special interest to practical as well as theoretical chemists ever since the work of Kipping [1]. Interest in the group of compounds, known as poly(organosilanes) 2b has not diminished to the present day, especially since it is a well known fact ...

Structural transitions in poly(A), poly(C), poly(U), and poly(G) and their possible biological roles
Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 2018The homopolynucleotide (homo-oligonucleotide) tracts function as regulatory elements at various stages of mRNAs life cycle. Numerous cellular proteins specifically bind to these tracts. Among them are the different poly(A)-binding proteins, poly(C)-binding proteins, multifunctional fragile X mental retardation protein which binds specifically both to ...

Synthesis and coding properties of poly(c1A), poly(c3A), poly(c7A) and poly(h6A)
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1973Abstract The homopolynucleotides poly(c1A), poly(c3A), poly(c7A) and poly(h6A) ++ were synthesized from their corresponding nucleoside diphosphates using polynucleotide phosphorylase. With the exception of poly(h6A), which displayed no hypochromicity, the homopolynucleotides showed melting profiles similar to poly(A). All these polynucleotides, poly(

Raman studies of nucleic acids. VII. Poly A · poly U and poly G · Poly C
Biopolymers, 1972AbstractLaser‐excited Raman spectra of the double‐helical complexes poly A·poly U and poly G·poly C are reported for 2H2O and H2O solutions. The spectra are discussed in relation to their use as quantitative reference spectra for determining the dependence of the Raman scattering of RNA on secondary structure.

Rapid Prototyping of Microfluidic Systems in Poly(dimethylsiloxane).
Analytical Chemistry, 1998This paper describes a procedure that makes it possible to design and fabricate (including sealing) microfluidic systems in an elastomeric material [Formula: see text] poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) [Formula: see text] in less than 24 h.

Methylene blue intercalates with triplex poly(dT)*poly(dA)·poly(dT) but not duplex poly(dA)·poly(dT)
J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun., 1995Methylene blue intercalates with triplex poly(dT*dA·dT) even though it binds to the precursor duplex poly(dA·dT) in the major groove; the switch may be related to conformational modifications of the polynucleotide structure upon binding of the third strand.
