Thermal and Photocatalytic Degradation of Poly(methyl methacrylate), Poly(butyl methacrylate), and Their Copolymers

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2008
The photocatalytic degradation of the homopolymers, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), poly(butyl methacrylate (PBMA), and their copolymers (PMMABMA) was studied in o-dichlorobenzene in the presence of commercial $TiO_2$ (Degussa P-25) and $TiO_2$ synthesized by combustion synthesis $(CSN-TiO_2)$.

Radiolysis of the isomeric poly(butyl methacrylates)

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: General Papers, 1963
AbstractA study has been made of the effect of gamma irradiation on the production of free radicals in poly(butyl methacrylates). A mechanism of radiation attack on the polymers is proposed. Free‐radical measurements and the determination of the products of irradiation have been used in establishing this mechanism.

Solution properties of poly(butyl methacrylate‐co‐acrylonitrile)

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1977
AbstractPoly(buty1 methacrylate‐co‐acrylonitrile) of 1 : 1 molar composition has been prepared by bulk polymerization process using 2,2′ ‐azoisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator and fractionated using ethyl methyl ketone and methanol as the solvent and the precipitant respectively.

The photolytic decomposition of poly-n-butyl methacrylate

Polymer, 1964
Abstract The measurement of the absolute rate of photolytic degradation of poly( n -butyl methacrylate) using ultra-violet irradiation on molten polymer films, has been found to be complicated by some physical process becoming rate controlling. It is suggested that because of the high rates of degradation involved, thermal gradients are set up, and ...

Uralkyd and poly (butyl methacrylate) interpenetrating polymer networks

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2000
ABSTRACT:: Hydroxyl terminated alkyds synthesized from castor oil, glycerol, and different dibasic acids were used to develop uralkyds and their interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) with polybutyl methacrylate (PBMA). Glass transition temperature measurements gave the evidence of interpenetration.

Synthesis and properties of metal poly(butyl methacrylates) 7

Macromolecular Symposia, 1994
AbstractMetal butyl methacrylate colloids were obtained by codeposition at 77K of the monomer with several metals such as Au, Pd, Cu, Ag, Zn, Cd, Ga, In, Ge, Sn, Sb and Bi. Au and Pd colloids are stable tor months at room temperature. The colloids were polymerized with different amounts of initiator benzoyl peroxide at 65°C for 25 min and a wide range ...

Morphology of crosslinked poly(butyl methacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) porous membranes

Journal of Membrane Science, 2002
Abstract For the separation of liquid mixtures, IPN structure could be used to enhance the mechanical strength and the selectivity of membrane by restricting the swelling of the transporting polymer component networks. In this study, for the separation of water–ethanol mixture, composite membranes having polyacrylic acid–poly(butyl methacrylate-co ...

Preparation and properties of poly(butyl methacrylate/lauryl methacrylate) and its blend fiber

Polymer Bulletin, 2012
The functionalized copolymers, based on butyl methacrylate (BMA), and lauryl methacrylate (LMA) with crosslinking agent HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) or DVB (divinyl benzene), have been innovatively synthesized by suspension polymerization for oil absorption. Further, the copolymers and polypropylene (PP) blend fiber were attained via melt spinning.
