Fe-containing magnetic ionic liquid as an effective catalyst for the glycolysis of poly(ethylene terephthalate)

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2010
The depolymerization of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) in ethylene glycol could be catalyzed by imidazolium-based Fe-containing ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrachloroferrate ([bmim]FeCl(4)).

Characterization of poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) blends

Polymer, 1997
Abstract A method for the direct determination of the molecular weight of the poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) component in PET/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) blends by gel permeation chromatography has been developed. This technique has been applied to demonstrate that an observed deterioration in the mechanical properties (e.g. Izod impact

Blends of poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(butylene terephthalate)

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2005
AbstractCommercial grade poly(ethylene terephthalate), (PET, intrinsic viscosity = 0.80 dL/g) and poly(butylene terephthalate), (PBT, intrinsic viscosity = 1.00 dL/g) were melt blended over the entire composition range using a counterrotating twin‐screw extruder. The mechanical, thermal, electrical, and rheological properties of the blends were studied.

Dynamic mechanical analysis of poly(trimethylene terephthalate)—A comparison with poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(ethylene naphthalate)

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2004
AbstractThe fiber properties of PTT have been the subject of several reports, although very few reports describe the properties of molded specimens. In this work, the dynamic mechanical relaxation behavior of compression‐molded PTT films has been investigated.

On the mesomorphic form of poly(ethylene terephthalate)

Macromolecules, 1992
The conformation and the packing of PET chains in the mesomorphic form were investigated. The X-ray diffraction pattern presented here is richer than those previously reported. In particular, besides the known meridional peaks at ζ=1/c and 3/c, corresponding to a periodicity of 10.3 A, a stronger meridional peak at ζ=5/c was shown. The reported Fourier

SYNTHESIS OF POLY(METHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE) AND COPOLYMERS WITH POLY(ETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE)

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part A, 2000
Poly(methylene terephthalate) (PMT) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) were synthesized by triethylamine-mediated reactions of terephthalic acid and dihalomethanes or 1,2-dihaloethanes, respectively. Reactions with chloro compounds required longer reaction times and higher temper-atures than those with bromo.
