Mechanical and Thermal Performance of PLA and PHBV- based Biopolymers as Potential Alternatives to PET

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
The evaluation of the mechanical and thermal properties of poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV), polylactide (PLA) and their biocomposites (containing 30%wt of sisal in their composition) has been studied and compared to poly(ethylene ...

The Effect of Injection Moulding Temperature on PET Particles/Fibrils in Blends and MFCs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The microfibrillar composites of polypropylene (PP)/poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) have been prepared by twin-screw extrusion, followed by cold drawing. The employed stretch ratio was 4.

Electrochemiluminescence Drives Photodynamic Therapy In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electrochemiluminescence (ECL)‐driven photodynamic therapy (PDT) for in vivo cancer treatment is reported for the first time. The flexible ECL patch exhibits stable and intense luminance under alternating current voltage, enabling efficient photosensitization to generate reactive oxygen species that damage cancer cells, thus leading to significant ...

Commercial fire-retarded PET formulations - relationship between thermal degradation behaviour and fire-retardant action [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Many types of fire-retardants are used in poly(ethylene terephthalate), PET, formulations, and two commercial fire retardants, Ukanol(TM) and Phosgard(TM), have been shown to improve significantly PET flame-retardancy when used as comonomers.

A New Model for Structure of Poly (ethylene terephthalate) in its Glassy State [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
A new realistic, structural model is proposed for the glassy solid state of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET). The model is considered basing on crystallization behaviors from the glassy state of PET, and in particular including the evidence from the ...

Unpaired Learning‐Enabled Nanotube Identification from AFM Images

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Identifying nanotubes on rough substrates is notoriously challenging for conventional image analysis. This work presents an unpaired deep learning approach that automatically extracts nanotube networks from atomic force microscopy images, even on complex polymeric surfaces used in roll‐to‐roll printing.
