Robust Polymer Hydrogels Improve Electric‐Fish‐Inspired Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electric‐fish‐inspired hydrogel batteries based on ion‐concentration gradients offer an attractive route to soft power sources; however, the poor mechanical properties of existing hydrogels limit device assembly and performance. Here, we report poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate hydrogels that enable ion‐gradient batteries composed of

Preparation of poly(vinyl alcohol)/silica nanocomposties by sol-gel method

open access: yese-Polymers, 2013
The poly(vinyl alcohol)/silica nano-composities hybrid membranes were prepared by co-hydrolysis and co-condensation of γ-glycidyloxypropyl trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) in poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) aqueous solution.

Novel hydrogels based on polysaccharides for soft tissue regeneration: preparation and characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá přípravou, síťováním a fyzikálně-chemickou charakterizací hydrogelů na bázi polysacharidů. Cílem práce bylo vyvinout elastické filmy, které by mohly být použity pro vlhké hojení ran.

Critical Role of Polymer Gate Dielectrics on the Charge Carrier Transport in Perovskite Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge transport in 2D tin perovskite FETs is shown to be governed by dielectric interface behavior. Polar polymer dielectrics induce dipolar disorder that localizes carriers, whereas nonpolar polymers suppress trapping and enable superior charge transport, ensuring stable and reliable transistor operation. ABSTRACT Understanding the role of interfaces

Poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogels; pp. 63–66 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2009
Poly(vinyl alcohol) was used as base material for hydrogel preparation. The water absorption, gel fraction, and density of different gels prepared by the freezing/thawing method were studied.

Conductance in Water-Poly(vinyl alcohol) Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1972
The conductance of 0.02-0.10 N potassium chloride in poly(vinyl alcohol)-water mixtures at 25° decreases by about 50% as the polymer content increases from zero to 20% by weight, while the bulk viscosity increases from 0.0089 to over 1000 poises. Further increases in polymer concentration transform the highly viscous liquid into an elastomeric solid ...
