Study of thickness dependent density in ultrathin water soluble polymer films [PDF]
Density of the polyacrylamide ultrathin films has been studied using X-ray reflectivity technique. Two sources (one powder and another aqueous solution) of polyacrylamide were used to prepare spin coated films on silicon substrate. Light scattering measurements show that the polymer chains were unentangled in a concentrated (4 mg/ml) as well as in a ...

Ribonucleolytic resection is required for repair of strand displaced nonhomologous end-joining intermediates [PDF]
Nonhomologous end-joining (NHEJ) pathways repair DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in eukaryotes and many prokaryotes, although it is not reported to operate in the third domain of life, archaea. Here, we describe a complete NHEJ complex, consisting of DNA

We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Formation and structure of polyacrylamide gels
SYNOPSIS Acrylamide and N,N-methylenebis(acry1amide) (AAm-Bis) copolymerization has been investigated in water at a monomer concentration of 1.8 w/v %. Conversion of monomer and pendant vinyl groups was measured as a function of the reaction time up to the onset of macrogelation.

Background. Open wound treatment requires a use of bandage material to prevent the development of pathogenic microflora and to provide the necessary conditions for tissue regeneration. The aim of the study was to compare the effectiveness of polyacrylamide (PAA) and dextran-graft-polyacrylamide (D-PAA) hydrogels loaded with silver nanoparticles ...

Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Characterization of the Lipopolysaccharide from a \u3cem\u3eRhizobium phaseoli\u3c/em\u3e Mutant that is Defective in Infection Thread Development [PDF]
The lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from a Rhizobium phaseoli mutant, CE109, was isolated and compared with that of its wild-type parent, CE3. A previous report has shown that the mutant is defective in infection thread development, and sodium dodecyl sulfate ...

Biochemical Properties of a Decoy Oligodeoxynucleotide Inhibitor of STAT3 Transcription Factor. [PDF]
Cyclic STAT3 decoy (CS3D) is a second-generation, double-stranded oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) that mimics a genomic response element for signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), an oncogenic transcription factor.

The A3 adenosine receptors (A3ARs) are overexpressed in prostate cancer. AR 292 and AR 357, as A3AR antagonists, are capable of blocking proliferation, modulating the expression of drug transporter genes involved in chemoresistance, ferroptosis, and the hypoxia response, and inducing cell death.
