New Insights into the Brill Transition in Polyamide 11 and Polyamide 6
Macromolecules, 2016The thermal stability of several crystal polymorphs in polyamide 11 (PA11) and polyamide 6 (PA6) has been investigated by means of in situ X-ray experiments. In the case of PA11, δ′ and α′ phases display a Brill transition far below the melting point. Both phases transform into a (pseudo)-hexagonal HT δ phase above 100 °C.

Crystallisation behaviour of Polyamide-6 and Polyamide-66 nanocomposites
Composites Science and Technology, 2006The crystallisation properties of injection moulded Polyamide-6 and Polyamide-66 nanocomposites based on organophilic layered silicates were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction to better understand the influence of the nanoplatelets on these two matrices.

Oxazoline‐containing compatibilizers for polyamide/SAN and polyamide/ABS blends
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2002AbstractPolyamide (PA) and acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene copolymer (ABS) may appear as a mixture in the recycled plastic stream. The incompatibility of these blends results in a blend with poor mechanical properties. The aim of this work is to partially convert the nitrile groups of the acrylonitrile/styrene copolymer (SAN) into oxazoline groups by ...

How Do Chemical Cleaning Agents Act on Polyamide Nanofiltration Membrane and Fouling Layer?
, 2020Nanofiltration (NF) membranes, especially polyamide (PA) ones, are widely applied in water treatment, food processing, and resource recovery thanks to their excellent separation selectivity to smal...

Properties of Aromatic Polyamide and Polyamide-Hydrazide Membranes
1972The search for new and improved membrane compositions has continued on a large scale since the discovery of cellulose acetate as a desalination membrane by Reid and Breton[1], and subsequent improvements in flux demonstrated by Loeb and Sourirajan [2,3].

For the purposes of this chapter, polyamides are defined as polymers which contain recurring amide groups (-CO-NH-) in the main polymer chain. Various types of polyamides fall within this definition.

Many excellent reviews have been written on polyamides and their synthesis,1–13 and comprehensive (private) literature surveys are published by the Stanford Research Institute. Polyamides are mostly prepared by a stoichiometric stepwise reaction and belong to the group of condensation polymers (see also Volume 5, Chapter 1).

Stabilization of polyamides—I. The efficiency of antioxidants in polyamide 6
Polymer Degradation and Stability, 1996The influence of antioxidants on the thermooxidation of hydrolytically and anionically prepared polymers of 6-hexanelactam was studied. Oxygen consumption was followed during oxidations and the changes in molecular weight and in the content of carboxyl groups were evaluated.

Adsorption of polyamides and polyamide–silane mixtures at glass surfaces
Surface and Interface Analysis, 2003AbstractThe individual and combined adsorption behavior of polyamides and two different silanes to multicomponent glass surfaces was probed with a combination of x‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and static contact angle measurements. Samples were analyzed with and without solvent rinsing to separate the weakly bound
