Epoxidized polybutadiene rubber as an effective compatibilizer for acrylonitrile butadiene rubber and polybutadiene rubber blend

Journal of Elastomers & Plastics, 2021
In the present study, epoxidized polybutadiene rubber (EBR; 30 mol% epoxidation) was synthesized using commercial-grade cis-polybutadiene rubber (BR). The EBR was successfully utilized as an effective compatibilizer between two incompatible elastomers, namely polar acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) and non-polar polybutadiene rubber (BR).

MODIFICATION OF POLYBUTADIENE RUBBER: A REVIEW

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 2021
ABSTRACT Developments in modification of polybutadiene rubber (PBR) using various reagents and catalysts have been reviewed. Hydrogenation and functionalization occurring at the site of unsaturation along chain length are discussed. Hydrogenation involving various metal catalyzed processes is discussed.

Photoelastic properties of polybutadiene rubbers

Journal of Polymer Science Part B: Polymer Physics, 1987
AbstractTwo polybutadiene polymers were used in this investigation, one with 98% cis‐1,4 units and the other with an approximately equibinary mixture of cis and trans units. A range of cross‐linking densities were obtained using dicumyl peroxide as a vulcanizing agent.

Studies on adhesion between natural rubber and polybutadiene rubber

International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 1989
Abstract Adhesion between natural rubber and polybutadiene, unfilled and filled with carbon black and silica, has been investigated. The adhesion strength of gum joint could be improved by using carbon black or silica or specific crosslinking agent in the rubber compounds.

Cis-Polybutadiene-Natural Rubber Blends

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1959
Abstract The preparation of 1:1 cis-polybutadiene-natural rubber blends has been shown to be feasible on a laboratory scale. Blends of this type have displayed hysteresis properties equivalent to the natural rubber control and have exhibited satisfactory modulus, tensile and Shore hardness in the recipes developed.

Reinforcing effect of reclaim rubber on natural rubber/polybutadiene rubber blends

Materials & Design (1980-2015), 2013
Abstract Mechanochemically devulcanized ground rubber tire (GRT) was revulcanized in a composition with natural rubber (NR) and polybutadiene rubber (PBR). Reclaiming of GRT was carried out by tetra methyl thiuram disulfide (TMTD) in the presence of spindle oil, a paraffin base rubber process oil. The cure characteristics and tensile properties of NR/

Permanganate Oxidation of Polybutadiene Rubbers

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1951
Abstract In view of the failure to obtain quantitative yields of the expected carboxylic acids by permanganate oxidation of the several butadiene polymers studied, definite conclusions about their structures cannot be made. The results have a qualitative significance, however, in that the −10° emulsion polymer was found to produce a larger ...
