Peroxidation of polybutene

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1963
AbstractThe autocatalytic peroxidation performed dircectly with air of linear polybutene in the absence of special initiators was studied; hydroperoxides, peroxides, “active” hydrogen, alcohols were determined by chemical methods in the oxidized product, and the ketonic carbonyls were determined qualitatively by I.R.

Characterization of polybutenes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1964
To characterize butene polymers, rapid and precise small- and large-scale column fractionation techniques have been developed for low molecular weight pure polyisobutenes and for mixed butene polymers. Fractionation results have been used to determine molecular weight distribution curves of typical commercial butene polymers.

Rubberlike Properties of Polybutene

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1940
Abstract Until the last decade the explanation of those properties for which rubber is unique was confined largely to the study of rubber itself. Duplication of these properties involved the synthesis of polymers from isoprene and its immediate homologs.

Peroxidation of isotactic polybutene

Journal of Polymer Science, 1961
AbstractThe reaction of direct peroxidation at 75–90°C. and the simultaneous or successive ones of degradation of the isotactic poly‐α‐olefins are followed through analytical measurements of the total peroxide oxygen content (dialkyl peroxides + alkyl hydroperoxides) and intrinsic viscosity measurements.

Cohesive zone modelling of fracture in polybutene

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2006
Fracture properties of isotactic polybutene-1 have been investigated. Fracture tests have been conducted and relevant properties at initiation have been determined according to linear elastic fracture mechanics. Two distinct fracture mechanisms have been identified, one of them causing partial instability during crack propagation.

Electrical breakdown of polybutene oils

Journal of Electrostatics, 1979
Abstract The direct voltage electric strengths of a number of samples of polybutene oils have been measured using sphere - sphere and point - sphere electrode systems made form various metals. The effects of forced flow of the liquid between the electrodes and of temperature have been investigated.

Deformation of polybutene‐1 spherulites

Journal of Polymer Science Part A-2: Polymer Physics, 1967
AbstractThe deformation of fresh and aged polybutene‐1 spherulitic samples has been investigated by microscopic observation, interferometry, studying macroscopic and spherulitic birefringence changes, and study of light‐scattering patterns. The spherulite deformation is not affine, the microscopic deformation ratio being less than the macroscopic ...

2D-INADEQUATE Structural Assignment of Polybutene Oligomers

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1997
The structure of polybutene oligomers has been unambiguously determined using NMR techniques. We used 2D-INADEQUATE to show that the major polybutene isomer synthesized via BF(3) catalysis has the expected structure with a tert-butyl group at the beginning of the chain and the expected methylvinylidene double bond at the other end.

Vistanex Polybutene—Rubber Blends

Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1941
Abstract From the foregoing data on blends of Vistanex Polybutene and rubber, it is evident that these two materials complement one another. Each has properties which the other lacks, and blends of the two can be made to emphasize the more desirable properties of either one.
