Nanoparticles From Infusion Beverage Wastes and Their Effect on PLA/PHB Plasticized Composite Behavior

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Schematic overview of the valorization of yerba mate and black tea waste into lignocellulosic nanoparticles (nYM, nBT), incorporated into PLA/PHB films plasticized with maleinized corn oil (MCO). The resulting bionanocomposites exhibited enhanced barrier and mechanical performance, making them suitable for biodegradable food packaging applications ...

Chemically Recyclable Polyester Thermosets from Activated Adipic Acid and Renewable Polyols

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
Closed‐loop chemically recyclable polyester thermosets were synthesized using glycerol and sorbitol and adipic acid as the monomers. Adipic acid was converted/activated into a mixture of polyanhydrides via a benign procedure prior to polymerization. A tensile strength up to 18 MPa was achieved.

Regiocontrolled Cleavage of Dialkyl Ethers Using Regenerative Borates as a Sustainable Alternative to Boron Trichloride

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The use of triaryl borates for highly selective ether cleavage is described. The borate is regenerable from the aqueous extract of a previous ether cleavage reaction without repurification, making use of low toxicity boron and phenolic waste. Such strategies for CO cleavage are expected to be broadly applicable to synthetic manipulations where ...

Microplastics in Agricultural Soil: Fate, Impacts, and Bioremediation by Earthworms

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
Microplastics enter the soil through various means, including the degradation of plastic film mulch, waste from cosmetics industries and municipalities, and the use of bioplastic seed coatings. These microplastics disrupt soil structure, microbial activity, enzyme function, and plant growth.

The Critical Role of Processing Sequence on the Mechanical Properties of Reactively Compatibilized PLA/PBAT Blends: Effect of Manufacturing Method

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
The influence of processing sequence on the mechanical properties of reactively compatibilized PLA/PBAT blends is investigated. Sequential addition of Joncryl enhances interfacial adhesion, elongation, and tensile strength compared to single‐step blending.
