On the Semantics of Polychronous Polytimed Specifications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, we study the semantics of a specification language for the coordination of concurrent systems, which supports time at different levels: various time domains, polychrony, and mixed metric/logical time constraints. The language itself is defined by a denotational semantics.

The polychronous model of computation and Kahn process networks

open access: yesScience of Computer Programming, 2023
In 1974, Gilles Kahn defined a seminal semantic model for asynchronous dataflow programming that would then be called as the eponymous Kahn process networks (KPN) and instantiated in as many models of the so-called DPN hierarchy as domain-specific fields of information processing from digital signal processing to hybrid cyber-physical systems.

Spontaneous organization in task-switching reflects self-reported polychronicity and media multitasking tendency

open access: yesCurrent Research in Behavioral Sciences, 2022
Studies on media multitasking behavior and task-switching performance have yielded mixed results. The present preliminary study (N = 40) focused on task management, and not performance, by allowing participants to choose the switching frequency between ...

Delay learning and polychronization for reservoir computing [PDF]

open access: yesNeurocomputing, 2008
We propose a multi-timescale learning rule for spiking neuron networks, in the line of the recently emerging field of reservoir computing. The reservoir is a network model of spiking neurons, with random topology and driven by STDP (spike-time-dependent plasticity), a temporal Hebbian unsupervised learning mode, biologically observed.

Time perception: A study of young Brazilian workers [PDF]

open access: yesTourism & Management Studies, 2016
Given the importance of time as a category of analysis in organisational research, this study’s objective was to analyse the time perceptions of young Brazilian workers. The study was guided by the five time dimensions proposed by Bluedorn and Jaussi (
