Anoles of St. Vincent (Squamata: Polychrotidae): Population Densities and Structural Habitat Use

Caribbean Journal of Science, 2008
We examined population densities and structural microhabitat use by Anolis griseus and A. trinitatis at eight sites on the leeward (western) coast of St. Vincent, West Indies. Estimates of population density based on the Schnabel method varied according to habitat complexity and ranged to 5,208/ha for A.

Taxonomic status of Anolis baccatus Bocourt 1873 (Reptilia, Squamata, Polychrotidae)

Zootaxa, 2011
The examination of the holotype of Anolis baccatus Bocourt 1873 revealed that it is a representative of A. carolinensis Voigt 1832 and, therefore, this name is synonymized with the latter epithet.

Communal Nesting in the Anoline Lizard Norops lionotus (Polychrotidae) in Central Panama

The Southwestern Naturalist, 2011
Abstract We examined nesting in Norops lionotus to describe nesting sites and to determine if nesting aggregations were by multiple females or repeated deposition of eggs by the same female. We also described eggs during incubation and the subsequent hatchlings. We collected eggs from nests along streams at Omar Torrijos National Park in central Panama

TWO NEW SPECIES OF ANOLES FORMERLY REFERRED TO AS ANOLIS LIMIFRONS (SQUAMATA: POLYCHROTIDAE)

Herpetologica, 2008
We describe two new species of anoles (genus Anolis) from Panama formerly referred to as Anolis (or Norops) limifrons. Both new species differ from A. limifrons by having a large bilobed hemipenis (small and unilobed in A. limifrons). The new species differ from each other in male dewlap size and coloration.

RHABDIAS ANOLIS N. SP. (NEMATODA: RHABDIASIDAE) FROM THE LIZARD, ANOLIS FRENATUS (SAURIA: POLYCHROTIDAE), FROM PANAMA

Journal of Parasitology, 2003
Rhabdias anolis n. sp. from the lungs of Anolis frenatus collected in Panama is described and illustrated. Rhabdias anolis n. sp. represents the 45th species assigned to the genus and the ninth from the Notropical Realm. It is distinguished from all other Neotropical species by the presence of a pair of sessile lateral papillae on its tail.

Sharing Amazonian Rain-Forest Trees: Ecology of Anolis punctatus and Anolis transversalis (Squamata: Polychrotidae)

Journal of Herpetology, 2003
Abstract We studied the ecology of Anolis punctatus and Anolis transversalis at six localities in the Amazon region of Ecuador and Brazil from 1994–1999. Both lizards are arboreal, about the same size (A. punctatus slightly larger) but differ in some body proportions.

Do Anoles (Sauria: Polychrotidae: Genus Anolis) Alternate the Sex of Successive Offspring

Copeia, 2007
Abstract Green Anoles (Anolis carolinensis: Sauria, Polychrotidae) have been reported to alternate the sex of successive offspring, a pattern not known in any other vertebrate. However, no adaptive explanation has been posed for this novel pattern in Anolis, and the extent to which sex alternation is a phylogenetic constraint versus a facultative ...

Type Material and Use of the NameAnolis bourgeaeiBocourt (Sauria: Polychrotidae)

Copeia, 2001
Abstract Examination of the type material of Anolis bourgeaei Bocourt revealed that the lectotype is referable to Norops laeviventris (Wiegmann), and the paralectotype is a Norops sericeus (Hallowell). I conclude that the nominal taxon A. bourgeaei Bocourt is a junior synonym of N. laeviventris (Wiegmann).
