Research on Micro-Size Electrical Discharge Grinding Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride Based on Single Pulse

, 2021
Polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PcBN) was a high temperature and high pressure composite material with high hardness. With its high wear resistance and good chemical stability, it conforms to the basic characteristics of modern advanced cutting ...

Diamond deposition on polycrystalline films of cubic boron nitride

Applied Physics Letters, 1993
We have grown diamond films on films of cubic boron nitride (cBN). The cBN films were grown on Si(100) substrates using ion-assisted pulsed laser deposition. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy indicated that the BN films contained ∼75% sp3-bonded cBN.

Research on controlling secondary cutting by optimizing the texture-edge distance of micro-textured polycrystalline cubic boron nitride tools

Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part E, journal of process mechanical engineering
The application of micro-textured cutting tools is often hindered by the occurrence of secondary cutting, which compromises the effectiveness of such tools during machining.

Development of matrix microstructure in polycrystalline cubic boron nitride ceramics

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2017
Abstract The development of matrix microstructure in polycrystalline cubic boron nitride cutting tool materials has been investigated by X-ray diffraction and scanning and transmission electron microscopy combined with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry.

Electrical properties of Be-implanted polycrystalline cubic boron nitride films

Applied Physics Letters, 2008
P -type conductivity of polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (cBN) films was achieved by implantation of beryllium ions. The effects of implantation doses and annealing on the phase composition and electrical properties of cBN films were studied. A reduction in resistivity by seven orders of magnitude was observed.

Synthesis and characterization of polycrystalline sintered compacts of cubic boron nitride

Journal of Materials Science, 1986
Synthetic cubic boron nitride (CBN) compacts are an important tool material used extensively for the machining of hardened steels. The paper describes work on the synthesis and characterization of CBN compacts. A 200 tonne cubic press has been used for the generation of high pressures.

Self-bonding mechanism of pure polycrystalline cubic boron nitride under high pressure and temperature

, 2020
Cubic boron nitride (cBN) powders with different grain size were used as a starting material, and the pure polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PcBN) samples were sintered under the same conditions at 7GPa, 1700 °C, 270 s.

Structurization of single-phase polycrystalline materials based on cubic boron nitride

Soviet Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics, 1987
The authors study the crystallization of cubic boron nitrides by means of transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction and the effects on crystal structure and microstructure of sintering, compacting, and heat treatment. Their results establish that the structurization of the nitrides is determined by structural phase transformations ...

Comparison of the relationship between hardness and wear resistance of polycrystalline diamond and cubic boron nitride

Journal of The American Ceramic Society
Hardness is an important indicator of the wear resistance of tool materials. The study of the effect of hardness on the wear resistance of tool materials has significant practical applications. In this experimental work, a series of polycrystalline cubic

Optimization of machining of automotive components with polycrystalline cubic boron nitride

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2008
While superhard cutting tools are being used increasingly in automotive plants worldwide, their adoption within the automotive supply chain is not universal. Important issues relating to successful implementation of superhard cutting tool materials in such applications include the ageing effect of grey iron, proper edge preparation of the cutting ...
