Assisting Polyculture Farming in Africa
2021 IEEE AFRICON, 2021AlphaGarden is a polyculture garden tended by a robot using a learned control policy tuned with simulation, sensor and camera data. AlphaGarden aims to optimize yield and diversity while minimizing water use. This extended abstract considers how its seed planting algorithm could be used by African farmers.

2005AbstractA brief history of fish polyculture system and pond polyculture (in particular) as an age-old practice in Asia is provided. A list of suitable fish species for polyculture is also given. The benefits of traditional polyculture can also be enjoyed in periphyton-based aquaculture systems.
