Functionalization and solubilization of polycyclic aromatic compounds by sulfoniumization
A regioselective sulfoniumization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is described. The obtained sulfonium-salts, soluble in organic and water media, are employed in post-functionalizations, π-extension, and mitochondria-selective bio-imaging.

Visible‐light irradiation of nitro‐perylenediimide in the presence of triphenylphosphine reveals an unexpected pathway competing with the classical Cadogan cyclization. Mechanistic investigations uncover the rapid and selective formation of bay‐functionalized 1‐iminophosphorane‐12‐hydroxy perylenediimide derivatives.

\u3csup\u3e13\u3c/sup\u3eC NMR Analysis of Biologically Produced Pyrene Residues by \u3cem\u3eMycobacterium\u3c/em\u3e sp. KMS in the Presence of Humic Acid [PDF]
Cultures of the pyrene degrading Mycobacterium sp. KMS were incubated with [4-13C]pyrene or [4,5,9,10-14C]pyrene with and without a soil humic acid standard to characterize the chemical nature of the produced residues and evaluate the potential for ...

Potential of Trichoderma spp. strains for the bioremediation of soils contaminated with petroleum
Fungi species can degrade xenobiotic compounds contaminating the soil, including hydrocarbons. The objective of this work was to determine the potential of three strains of Trichoderma, isolated from soil contaminated with petroleum, for bioremediation ...

2019 State-of-the-Science of Dispersants and Dispersed Oil (DDO) in U.S. Arctic Waters: Public Health and Food Safety [PDF]
Chemical dispersants were employed on an unprecedented scale during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and could be a response option should a large spill occur in Arctic waters. The use of dispersants in response to that spill raised
